I decided that I need to put a little money into my accessories. I've never been one to really accessorize with jewelry, I don't know why. I had a few watches and some earring, but I always like to wear the same thing all the time. Well being bloggy friends with most of you has completely opened me up to wearing different accessories and for that I am very thankful. It's boring to wear the same things all the time (even though I still feel naked with out my signature rings). I'm really enjoying it and I love how it makes some of my outfits really come together.

So what did I do? I went to some of my favorite stores and bought up a bunch of cheap, fashionable jewelry.

Oh yeah, and I bought some super cute Guess sandals on sale too!

I got my sneakpeeq items!

Last month when I was approached by sneakpeeq, an online shopping boutique, I just had to indulge and pick out a few items from some of their online boutiques they had running. Well I finally got them last week and I couldn't be more excited! I got three items from two different boutiques I had never heard of before.

The first brand I chose two items from was Urban Expressions, an eco-friendly leather goods company. All items are 100% vegan, but look and feel like leather. They have even been featured in Glamour, Elle and Allure.

The next brand I chose was Jessica Elliot jewelry. Her designs have been seen on such stars as Kate Hudson, Jessica Alba, Christina Ricci, and Katherine Heigl.

The last item I'm waiting for is from Colour Me, another online jewelry boutique that literally helps you shop by color. I'm a new fan of this brand, let me tell you.

So, I've kinda been a loser lately. Not really doing much on the weekends. Sorry for being a lame-o. However, this weekend we went out for a friend's birthday which means I was able to get an outfit together for everyone! Wahoo! I just purchased a crap ton of accessories (post later this week) and I was ready to wear them!

"Favorite of the Week" Link Up #17

I hope everyone had a good weekend and got their posts ready for Favorite of the Week! My favorite this week has secretly been my favorite since I bought it, but I've been pushing it off as my item to post because I've just had so many recently.

I bought this DVD the weekend it came out. I have to admit, I really wanted the one that included the actual flowers from the set. Unfortunately, you could only get it online and I didn't feel like waiting. Plus, what am I gonna do with a prop from the set. Sure it would be neat, but I don't have a shrine to Twilight in my house (even though I'm sure most of you think I do). I haven't watched the bonus features yet, but I've probably watched the movie 5 or 6 times since I got it. As far as action goes, this one has the least of it, but I'll tell you that the suspense leading up to Bella becoming a vampire is so crazy. I can't believe I have to wait until November to see the final one. I want to see it now!! LOL.

Shut The Front Door! (If you're a Hunger Games fan, you should read this)

I saw an article and I just had to read it because I couldn't believe my eyes. I think I can be a crazed fan, but I'm not completely overboard. I'm more of a find everything out that I can about it by surfing the internet for 8 hours more than a camp out overnight for 6 days to go to the premiere type of girl.

Now I'm not gonna call anyone weird who wants to do this, to each their own. I just thought this was a little out of context and out of control. I wanna know if you feel the same.

I follow Tres Sugar on Facebook and I saw a post that literally read, "Hunger Games Ideas For Your Wedding, Bachelorette Party, and Bridal Shower". If anyone else's reaction was, "are you f#$%ing kidding me?" then we had the same reaction. This goes along the lines of how I felt about the nail polish they came out with for the movie (see post). If you've read the Hunger Games then you know this is completely against what the book is about or what it's trying to portray.

Some examples from the article are (for the record, some are things that have already been done):

Parachute in bread and spiles

Arrow and moss necklace party favors

Invitations

Oversize book posters

Propaganda decor

Look, I'm not against having a Hunger Games viewing party where these items would be perfectly acceptable, but for a wedding or shower? I don't know, am I completely off base here guys? I was just so taken aback by this that I felt the need to share with you and get your opinions. Is this going a little to far or am I being completely ridiculous? Just to be clear, I have no problems with themed parties of any nature (weddings, showers, etc) I just feel that this is the wrong choice of movie to use for that. Agree or disagree? The floor is yours folks.

"Favorite of the Week" Link Up #16

My favorite this week has to be my new Naked2 palette that I won the other week (see post). I have been using it non-stop and have completely neglected all my other eye makeup. I definitely still want to buy the original Naked palette (oh help me when that happens), but I'm very happy with this one.

I know it's been flying off the shelves, but ultimately people weren't completely impressed with it. It's still a great palette, but I understand where people are coming from. You just expected a little more.

Btw, this picture doesn't do it justice.

I'm definitely going to do a review on this product, but I'm currently documenting looks for you. Expect it in the next week or so!

Getting Ready for Summer Skin

I know it's only February, but I'm starting get ready for that nice warm sunshine! I've been picking out my swimsuits, buying a couple sundresses AND looking into some new summer makeup.

Last year I picked up a Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick as my new bronzer and I can't wait to start using it again!

This year, I'm definitely ready to try out some new things. For instance, I've never used a liquid luminizer and now I'm dying to try one. I was checking out some of these from Sephora:

Smashbox Artificial Light Luminizing Lotion

Stila All Over Shimmer Liquid Luminizer

NARS Illuminator

The only luminizer I've used is my BareMinerals Mineral Veil which I'm not impressed with. I hardly use it anymore. How do you wear luminizer? Do you mix it with your moisturizer or just apply it straight to your face?

I'm also in the market this summer for a new blush! My current blush is e.l.f. Natural Radiance Blusher in Glow. I also like to use a BareMinerals blush I have as well. I'm just bored with them and ready to try something else. So I checked these out at Sephora too:

Buxom True Hue Blush in either Breathless (blushing peach) or Seduction (pop pink)

Laura Mercier Second Skin Cheek Colour in Lotus Pink (warm neutral pink) or Orange Blossom (shimmering apricot with golden pink pearl)

NARS Blush in Super Orgasm (peachy pink with gold glitter) or Torrid (coral with shimmer)

Should I go with a more traditional pink or get something more coral?

Last but not least, I'm definitely going to pick up some hot new nail colors that are bright and fun for summer. I found a few I might have to splurge on:

Polish with a subtle hint of roses, for real.

DIY Scarf Hanger

I saw this DIY scarf organizer from Fab Fatale's blog a few weeks ago and I just knew i had to use the same idea! My closet is over flowing with scarves and I needed to organize them stat. I'm actually surprised that I found this idea on her blog and not on Pinterest which is where I expected to find it. Anyway, this is a cheap and quick DIY to organize your scarves if you are a scarf hoarder like me (I know so many of you are).

Shower Hooks $7.99 a piece

I was a little disappointed with the choice of shower rings at Target. I ended up getting two kinds: plain round ones for my thicker scarves and a package that was a little more decorative. I still have plenty of rings left over and plenty of room on my hangers to add more. This was super easy and just freed up tons of room in my closet. Now I can find all of my scarves! I just love DIY projects!

Valentine's Day OOTD & NOTD

So yes it was Valentine's Day and that gave me an excuse to go buy a new outfit (well we WERE going out to dinner...). I always like to dress up for an occasion!

I was so happy I bought this dress. I don't know if you guys remember that it looks just like the one I got during Christmas that's hot pink (see post). I'm really loving the tunic dress style right now. Currently Kristen from Love, Lipstick and Pearls, Danielle from Sweet Nothings and I are hunting down a mint version of this dress that is currently sold out. We're all very bitter about it actually. The dress is from Tobi and if any of you can find three of them for us please let us know!

Isn't it beautiful? I feel like I need to issue a missing dress alert or something. The three of us have been hunting for it for days and Danielle might just head down to the warehouse and get them for us! That would be awesome, if they don't remove her from the property. LOL.

I must be out of the loop because I had never heard of these candles. They have rings inside every one that can be worth $10, $100, $1000 or $5000. I'll definitely be purchasing some of these candles. I unfortunately couldn't wait for the candle to totally burn down so I ended up digging the ring out and this was what I got.

It's a pretty gold and purple ring. It's definitely a $10 ring, but I like it and I will wear it. If you go to their Facebook page you can post your ring online. It seems that all the rings are different which is really neat. They say if your ring says Taiwan on the inside it's a cheaper one, but if it says 14K on the inside you should get it appraised by a jeweler. I just think this is such a neat idea.

My favorite this week is my Valentine's Day Swap package! I was paired up with the lovely Destiny at www.jordynrose.com. I have to say I have been super lucky with all the swaps I've entered. My partners have really rocked! After exchanging a few emails back and forth, Destiny got me TO A T! Hershey's bars and Rolo's are my faves! I ate them immediately, oops! Philadelphia Auto Show

Sorry it took me so long to get this post together. I took a bazillion pictures and kept pushing off this post because I knew it was going to be very involved. My bad.

We had a really good time at the car show. Apparently it was smaller then in years past, but I still had fun and got to sit in some of my favorite cars.

So lets start with what everyone wants to see, the super luxury cars. Not as many as there should have been by my standards, but a girl can only dream...

Lamborghini's & Aston Martin's

Surprisingly there was not one Ferrari to be found AND for the record I refused to take pictures of the Bentley's and Rolls Royce's because I can't stand them. Sorry.

Two cars I was very excited to see...

The Audi R8 and the Lexus LFA, literally two of the sexiest cars I have ever seen.

I did get to sit in some cool cars though. Some that I hope to get and some that are my dream cars, but maybe someday.

Everyone made fun of me, but I love this car. It's soooo cute, and I don't like it because of J. Lo.

They also had the Wrangler with the Yeti edition which I didn't take any pictures of because I thought it was hideous. All over this car was this ugly blue yeti that I would NOT want all over my pretty Jeep, no thank you.

And finally, downstairs of the convention center they had the "Dub" show which was basically a showcase for all cars that should have been in Fast & the Furious. It was interesting.


This Jeep was ridic, the rims were awesome and apparently hand painted. Loved it.

After the auto show we headed to The Palm for restaurant week.

Sorry to disappoint, but the only pictures I took here was of the food and I didn't want to tease you guys. We had a great time. Service and food were excellent. If you have The Palm in your city I definitely suggest it.

So that was our day at the auto show. It was my first time and I had a blast even though it apparently was "smaller" this year.

I heard a nasty little rumor...

So one of my clients who is a buyer for a major department store told me a little secret yesterday and I'm not sure how to take it. She swore to me (up and down) that the company she works for (I won't name names) sells fake handbags (mostly Coach). And that I should only get my Coach bag from a Coach store or Coach Factory Outlet. WHAT?? She also told me there have been many instances where uninformed employees will unknowingly take back a fake purse in a return and re-sell it. OMG! Now I have no proof and I don't even know this woman that well, but I was floored. Now I usually buy my Coach bags at a Coach store, but I have bought many other brands from this department store. I even researched it online and there were a lot of forums dedicated to it. Wow, I did not know this at all.

The reason I wanted to post about it was because I wanted everyone's opinions, stories, reaction, etc. I'm in no way accusing a company (that's why I did not name them). I'm not an investigative reporter, but I don't like posting anything without facts.

So, have you heard about things like this going on? Have you ever been duped into buying a fake handbag?

My Take on Super Bowl 46

I know it's sacrilegious to have rooted for the Giants as an Eagles fan, but I CANNOT stand Tom Brady, Gisele Bundchen and Bill Belichick. They drive me nuts. I won't go in to how I really feel about them (don't want to offend any of you), but let's just say my hatred for them runs deeper than it does for Eli and the Giants.

I spent a lot of Super Bowl Sunday running around from party to party. When I got to my final destination to watch the game in all of it's glory, I parked my butt in a spot and didn't really move. It's the only time of year that I enjoy commercials. I do have to say that it was a great game and I just love watching great teams play each other no matter who they are. I had a hard time figuring out when I was going to go to the bathroom during all of this. The game held my attention and I didn't want to miss a commercial (the problems I have, right). Overall, I was not impressed with the commercials. Only a few caught my eye. So here are my faves, in no particular order:

And besides all of those, I fell in love with all of the spots for NBC's "Smash". As most of you already know, I watched the pilot weeks ago. And it's killing me that I have to wait one more week for the second episode. So one of the commercials that I saw was this...

The song is called "Touch Me" and it was written by Ryan Tedder (OneRepublic). I cannot wait until they release that single.

I'm also not totally sure how I felt about the halftime show performance with Madonna. I was disappointed that she lip synced. I've heard that she usually doesn't so I was very surprised that she did. I LOVED "Music" being mixed with "Party Rock Anthem", I thought they went well together and seeing Madge on their shoulders cracked me up. I absolutely loathe her new song so that just made me roll my eyes and the fact that MIA just had to give the finger was super annoying. I mean seriously? I thought "Like A Prayer" with Ceelo was great and a neat take on it. All in all it was ok. I felt that for a 53 year old woman she looked great and moved pretty good. At the same time I wanted to say, "M, put on some flats so you don't stumble and can move better." Here's the full performance. Let me know what you think.

Directly following the game we rushed home so I could watch...

Season 2 is not letting me down! I even got Tim hooked on the show. This show beats America's Got Talent, American Idol and X Factor together! I'm so happy this show is back.

February Photo A Day Challenge: Week 1 Recap

"Favorite of the Week" Link Up #13

This week my favorite is an absolute must have for the winter. I've blogged about it before (see post), but since so many of you are new I felt that I just had to introduce you all to it.

This, my friends is my savior in the winter. In the winter my hair tends to really hold on to the products I use and can get really dry. I use this once a week and poof that build up feeling in my hair is gone AND it is super shiny! Your scalp and hair need to exfoliated just like your face and this stuff does the trick.

Seriously folks, no joke, this is one of my must have beauty products hands down. It is a life saver for me. I have thin/fine hair, but a lot of it. So it tends to get weighed down very easily with products. For some reason it gets worse in the winter. In the summer I may only use it once a month.

When you first put it in, it literally feels like you're putting in sand. My first thought was, "How am I ever going to get this out of my hair?" I couldn't believe how easy it washed out.

When I was getting ready to go on vaca, I was searching for some shows/movies to download to my iPad to watch on the plane. I noticed that the pilot for Smash was available on iTunes for FREE, so of course I got it. I figured if it was terrible then I don't have to add yet another show to my repertoire, and if it was good then I'd just have to patiently wait until the second episode comes out.

Can I just tell you that I fell head over heels in love with this show? For a pilot it was done very, very well. And I had no idea it had stars in it like Anjelica Huston and Jack Davenport. Just an FYI gentlemen, there is a lot of singing and dancing going on so I doubt you will be watching this. Ladies, I'm not an enormous musical fan, but I definitely like them. This show would probably please both types of people. The acting is fantastic and the music isn't annoying. Just how I like it!

If you don't know what the show is about, here's the synopsis for you:

"Smash" is a musical drama that celebrates the beauty and heartbreak of the Broadway theater as it follows a cross section of dreamers and schemers who all have one common desire - to be a "Smash." The series centers on a desire to create a Broadway musical based on the life of Marilyn Monroe - written by the successful songwriting duo of Tom (Tony Award nominee Christian Borle, "Legally Blonde: The Musical") and Julia (Emmy Award winner Debra Messing, "Will & Grace"). Julia recently began the process of adopting a child with her husband Frank (Tony Award nominee Brian d'Arcy James, "Shrek the Musical") of many years, but her focus is torn when she has the opportunity to write another Broadway hit. A rivalry soon forms for the lead role between a youthful, inexperienced Midwestern beauty Karen (Katharine McPhee, "American Idol") - who is trying to find fame in the big city against all odds - and stage veteran Ivy Lynn (Megan Hilty, "9 to 5: The Musical"), who's determined to leave the chorus line and finally get her big break. I definitely recommend this, I think most of you guys that I talk to on a regular basis will be fans. It premieres this Monday, February 6th at 10 pm.

I'm also looking forward to a couple new shows that will be starting next week as well. The first one is the second season of The Voice which will be premiering after the Super Bowl.

I'm probably going to check out The River which premiers on Tuesday, February 7th at 9 pm on ABC. It's from the creator of Paranormal Activity, so I'll see if it's scary enough or just corny.

Sunglasses Advice

I have finally decided that I'm going to spend money on a pair of sunglasses. I usually buy el cheapo pairs from those random kiosks in the mall, Target or Ulta. Since I have a gift card to Amazon, I was thinking it's time to get a nice pair to last me. My stipulation is that I must keep them in a case at all times while I'm not wearing them (they must come with a case)! So I've decided I want a nice pair of aviators and because of my light sensitivity I need a very dark lens. I've narrowed my choices down to 3 brands: Marc Jacobs, Michael Kors and Ray-Ban. I really loved some of the Dior ones, but I just can't justify spending that kind of money. Anyway, here are my picks. February Photo A Day Challenge: Day 1

I was so excited when I saw Caroline from Simply Smithwick post about this today! I saw people doing a photo challenge for January, but by the time I saw it it was way too late to join. So anyway, I'm joining Fat Mum Slim's challenge for the month of February! Woohoo! This is gonna be fun kids!

So I'm technically a day late (it's after midnight) and since I just saw this challenge, I'm going to do a little cheating here (shhh, don't tell). I don't have a view from my day so I'll just show you my view from yesterday because I actually have that!!

OMG, have you seen this? (Obligatory Twilight Post Warning)

Yeah, I know the print is a little small, but have you seen this? Target is celebrating the release of Twilight's Breaking Dawn Part 1 release on DVD by showing a sneak peek of Breaking Dawn Part 2 at select stores. For real! For more information you can click here to find if the store near you is participating and also to pre-order the DVD. Btw, Target has an exclusive BD Part 1 DVD that looks awesome. The DVD actually includes authentic prop flowers from the filming of the wedding scene encased in a keepsake. Pretty neat. Just an FYI, most stores have different exclusive DVD's. Walmart will have something different, so will Best Buy. Since this is the fourth DVD I've bought, I definitely recommend Target's version. They always have the best features and is usually well priced. I already checked out Walmart and they are offering a Bella's Wedding Dress Edition which means the DVD has a picture of the dress on it and you get a poster of it...LAME. I'd much rather have a flower! LOL.

I'm going to try and get in to see the sneak peek, but we'll see how it goes. I don't feel like dealing with a massive crowd that is going to scream and cry the whole time.

The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society Review

While I was on vacation, I finally had a chance to finish this book. I borrowed this and a couple other books from a girlfriend of mine, usually her recommendations are pretty good. Even though this book started off slow, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm a sucker for most books that take place in WWII. I thought I was going to have a hard time getting into it because it's literally all letters back and forth to people. I thought I would loose track of people and get confused, but it's really a unique way to tell a story. Even though the story itself is fiction, the German occupation of the Channel Islands is not. It was a part of the war I was unfamiliar with and because of this book, it has become something I definitely want to look into. If you would like to know more about it, here is a description from Barnes & Noble:

The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society begins in January 1946, when popular author Juliet Ashton, much like her fellow British citizens, is emerging from the dark days of World War II. As Juliet exchanges a series of letters with her publisher and her best friend, readers immediately warm to this author in search of a new subject in the aftermath of war. One of the things I love about vacation is being able to listen to a lot of music. I can go and listen to music that I forgot I had or haven't listened to in a while because I have that kind of time on vaca. Vacation Recap Part 2

So the rest of my vacation recap has to do with meeting two awesome bloggers, Krystal and Jennifer. If you follow them, then you probably know about their adventures using the Hipstamatic app for iPhone. If you don't know about it, here's what it does...

*FYI, I stole this description from Krystal's blog because I'm lazy*

Basically it's a camera on your phone that takes pictures with filters...the only difference is you don't get to see what "develops" until you take a whole roll of film! So, you take 24 pictures with your iPhone and they "develop" showing you how the filters came out on your pictures. Bonus: You can "share" the disposable camera with others using the app... so you and your friends can take pictures on the same "disposable" camera!

So all three of us went through 3 or 4 cameras over the weekend. Just sharing everything, even when we weren't together. I thought it would be fun to share some of those pictures with you guys too!

"Favorite of the Week" Link Up #12

Happy Monday everyone!! I hope you all had an amazing weekend because I sure did! I have so much to blog about it's cray cray. I'll start with my favorite this week which is an item I picked up from Target for my recent vaca in Florida.

It's so colorful and comfy! I love it! It also has a low v-neck in the back and it matched my fave VS purple swimsuit! I purchased this along with a few other things (see post), but I couldn't find a picture of just the coverup online. This is all I got folks! All of my coverups are from Target and I love them all!

Product Review: Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Polish

Way back in December, I participated in a swap where I was paired up with the lovely Jennifer from Starving, Insatiable (see post). Now, Jennifer and I were already bloggie friends, but because of the swap it had catapulted our friendship. I'm so glad we were randomly chosen to be partners! So anyway, one of the things she sent me was this Sally Hansen Insta-Dri polish in Speedy Sunburst. It was such a bright pink, I loved it! So finally, since I was actually meeting Miss Jennifer while I was in Florida last weekend, I decided I should wear it for her. The funniest thing was that she complimented me on the color and I was like, "It's the one you got me!" It was funny (you had to be there).

Anywho, I'm an OPI, Butter London, Zoya, Ulta polish kind of girl and never tried Sally Hansen. Boy was I pleasantly surprised. First of all, I'm super impatient and am usually trying to multi-task. So I usually screw up my nail polish within minutes of doing it. This dried soooo fast, it was a.maz.ing. Now at first I didn't have time to put on a clear coat. I thought it might not need it, but I changed my mind and put it on the next day.

Also, the brush takes some getting used to. It's thicker and bigger and it holds a lot of the polish. Sometimes it's really hard to not put too much on. I remember thinking, whoa, this is weird. Here's what the brush looks like.

Thank you to Jennifer because I'm a new Sally Hansen fan! I just love the polish. The color was great, it was super durable and it didn't fade in the sun after 4 days of laying on the beach, SCORE!

1. I read magazines from the back to the front. Don't know why, I've just always done that.

2. I cannot for the life of me snap my fingers.

3. I burp like a guy, sometimes even worse.

4. I am obsessed with condiments. I love sour cream, ranch dressing and ketchup.

5. I don't really like chicken.

6. I hate when people aren't polite i.e. holding doors for people behind you, saying excuse me, please and thank you.

7. I can't watch ANY type of animal or elderly person harmed in a movie. I get so upset. I have to keep reminding myself that it's not real.

8. My parents have been divorced since I was 6, separated since I was 3 and are both remarried. I have a half sister who is 13 from my dad and step mom.

9. If I could, I'd rescue a thousand dogs.

10. If I won the lottery, after I'd traveled the globe, I would either open up my own animal shelter or give a ton of money to one and volunteer my time.

11. I'm obsessed with Harry Potter, Twilight, The Hunger Games, One Tree Hill, True Blood and The Vampire Diaries. Get over it.

Kristen's Questions:

1. What magazines do you subscribe to?
I currently subscribe to Women's Health because I get it for free from purchasing a TON of makeup from e.l.f. cosmetics. Sweet! I've also been known to pick up People Style Watch at the supermarket.

2. What is your best quality?
Probably that I truly care about the people around me. I will go outta my way to help you, cheer you up, give a pep talk, etc. Just don't cross me, because then you'll see my worst quality. LOL.

3. What movie(s) do you always watch when they're on tv?
That's easy. Dirty Dancing, A League of Their Own, Ferris Bueller's Day Of, Any 80s Tom Cruise movie

4. What tv show do you watch, but don't know why you do?
Just started watching REmodeled on The CW. It's ridic, but I love it.

5. What drink do you order when you're out? (Alcohol & Non-alcohol)
Usually a Coke or a Three Olives Vodka and 7UP.

6. What celebrity do you think you'd be friends with if they were your neighbor?
Definitely Mila Kunis, she'd be an awesome neighbor.

7. Would you rather attend the Oscars or the Grammys?
Definitely the Oscars, more movie stars.

8. Do you prefer regular or flaming Cheetos? Puffy or crunchy?
I've never had a flaming Cheeto! I must be missing out. Gotta go with crunchy though, for real.

Aerosol, duh.

This is sooooo hard. Tie between Dumbledore and Dobby.

11. If price was no bother, what one indulgence would you have? Massages, mani/pedi, spray tans, etc?
I'd have a private jet or a yacht or both. Too much? LOL.

Definitely hairless, there are such things as wigs and eyebrow pencils.

A Tribute to Joe Paterno

Most of you know that I graduated from Temple University, but I started my college career at Penn State. Not only was I a student there, but I was a fan. Ever since I was born, I was taught to cheer for everything Penn State. My parents went there; it's where they met. My first cat was proudly named, Nittany. Some of my favorite memories are from that school and being on that campus. Even through thick and thin, I've considered myself a Penn State fan and I always will be. The loss of Joe Paterno is the toughest loss that college will ever see on or off the field. He was an amazing man and I am truly saddened that he is gone. Over the last few days, I have seen an enormous amount of pictures, videos and quotes. Even if you are not a Penn State or Joe Paterno fan, I hope you still take the time to read and watch things about him. So you can understand what a presence he was at the college and for everyone around him. This is my own little tribute to him.

"He died as he lived. He fought hard until the end, stayed positive, thought only of others and constantly reminded everyone of how blessed his life had been. His ambitions were far reaching, but he never believed he had to leave this Happy Valley to achieve them. He was a man devoted to his family, his university, his players and his community."

Vacation Recap Part 1

Most of you know that I was away last week in beautiful Marco Island, FL with my family. I had a great long weekend relaxing and basking in the sun. The highlight of my weekend had to be meeting fellow bloggers Krystal and Jennifer! I'll get into our meet up later in the week, it will take an entire post to cover it trust me! We stayed at the Marco Island Marriott Beach Resort and let me tell you, it was one of my favorite vacations recently.

Isn't this resort beautiful? All pictures are my own and taken with my own camera. Hard to believe right? I had an awesome time and would definitely recommend to anyone. Just prepare yourself for a couple of things: If you stay at this resort or any resort on the island, expect to pay a lot for everything. Drinks, food, beach chairs, umbrellas, you name it, it cost money and it's not cheap. If you venture off the resort, there are a few things within walking distance. Nice shops and restaurants for one. It is a little cheaper at a restaurant off the resort, but it's still a little pricey. Also, another thing that Krystal, Jenn and I realized while we were there, everyone there is retired! We were the youngest people wherever we went. On the resort there weren't many people my age either. I would assume the reason for that is because it's a very expensive place to go. So if you're looking for more of party scene, this isn't for you. However, if you're looking to relax for a few days in a beautiful setting, this is the place for you.

Hello! While Erin is hopefully enjoying warm weather here in Florida... I'm taking over her blog today! I'm Krystal and I write over at Krystal's Kitsch. Today we are here to talk about my favorites of the week: Full-size Birchbox products!

Birchbox has been blogged about to death, but I haven't seen anyone ever take the plunge and ORDER a full-size product because the sample they received was so awesome. For those aren't too sure about Birchbox, it's a monthly subscription service where you receive {usually} luxury samples for just $10. At the current time that I'm writing this... it's "sold out." How an online subscription service can sell out is beyond me, but back to business. Have you ordered anything full-size from your Birchbox? Or, do samples you receive frequently make you upgrade for the large size?

One nice perk of Birchbox is the ability to leave reviews on the samples you receive. When you log into your account and look at the box you received for the month, you are able to click on the items. Usually there will be an icon to "leave feedback." Once you do, you receive 10 points. After receiving 100 points, you're able to turn those 100 points into $10 off! Holla!

Anyway, before the holidays I finally committed to ordering some products that I had received samples off in the past year.

Colorescience pro® sunforgettable® Mineral Sun Protection SPF 30 Jar

I received a tiny pot of this about six months ago and used every last drop. It is a sunscreen that goes on like a mineral powder...but something about the coverage I enjoyed. Since I opted for the darkest shade -- the "almost tan" -- it gave slight coverage that I liked. I usually am in a rush to leave for work in the morning, so I throw on some moisturizer, some concealer, then cover my face with this. I like the results for day time. The full size jar was $28...but it was larger than I expected! And, I use this daily...which is why it's my favorite of the week!

Stila Holiday Daydream Palette

My very first Birchbox had a Stila eyeshadow pot in it. While most people are familiar with this brand, I wasn't. When I saw that this palette was just $18 ... I immediately added it to my cart. I love all the colors. Very fun!

Sunglasses- Last year I was looking at these gorgeous DG sunglasses, but I couldn’t bring myself to shell out $300 when I was planning and funding a wedding so instead I found some knock-offs at Nordstroms. They were great and lived a full life, but alas my $10 cheapies have hit the bucket. Nordstroms never lets me down, and I’m on my way to check out some of these goodies. I've found an awesome pair of Ray-Bans that aren't going to break the bank AND will be stylish for years.

I think that's it, my wish list to kick off spring. I'm so excited for the warmer months, it's been pretty cold here. I'm just itching to bust out my shorts and light weight clothes. What's your must have for the season?

As a previous annual pass holder, and living only 45 minutes away from Orlando, I have visited The Wizarding World of Harry Potter many, many times. It's worth the money. It's worth the time. The main ride, in Hogwarts School, is absolutely amazing and so much fun!

I have two pieces of advice for vacationers:

1) Get the frozen butter beer over the non-frozen option. Butter beer just tastes like cream soda with bars of butter melted into it and it's pretty gross. The frozen variety masks some of the nasty- haha

2) Stay at a Universal hotel if you can. Not only are the Universal hotels the best around, but you are allowed into the parks an hour before it opens to the public AND your room key serves as your Fast Pass so you can go to the front of the line on every ride!

2. Beaches

Duh! We are a peninsula, for God's sake. There are fabulous beaches everywhere from Anna Maria Island to Ft. Desoto and from Cocoa Beach to Miami Beach. You can drive right along the coast in many areas.

3. Key West

No kidding, you guys. Although Key West is a vacation in and of itself and more than likely, you won't have time to venture out of the Keys during your time here, Key West is some place that I recommend everyone take time in at some point! I've been there at least 3 times now and it gets better every time! We went on the scariest ghost tour EVER one year. Another year, we went during lobster season and caught lots of dinner- hehe. The most recent trip was for my friend's bachelorette party (read about our first night here and our second night here).

Anyway, there is always some place to go. The island is very small so now, I just know my way around to all the interesting places. It's cozy, somehow. And you can drink in the street from one bar to the next. Freaking awesome!

4. Baseball

My friend Krystal, being the baseball fan she is (and also having a sports journalist for a husband), gave me the information on this. Basically, Florida is pretty awesome because we house many teams during Spring Training. Yankees, Phillies and Blue Jays are in the Tampa area. Rays are in Port Charlotte. Pirates are in Sarasota. Twins and Red Sox are in Ft. Myers. There is nothing quite as much fun in my sports world as baseball except....

5. Hockey!

I'm an avid hockey fan. For reals. Hockey games, to me, are the most fun I can have on any given night out. Plus, our Forum just completed $42 million in renovations. Our arena is right on the water of the Port of Tampa so there is almost always a breeze as you walk around outside, enjoying the different vendors. Every seat in the arena is cushioned and has a cup holder (important to one who is always with a beer). We have tons of food options and so many fun games and things to experience inside.

6. Cruises

With 5 different cruise ports in Florida, a little 3-day should be on your list at some point! I've seen them as low as $199 and when you consider that all of your food is included, it's perfect. I've been on more cruises than I can count (I guess that's a benefit of living in Tampa- yay!) and it is most definitely the best bang for your buck!

Obviously, Florida is full of awesome. We have gardens, fantastic museums, tons of events in every city, multiple outlet malls, Disney!, Daytona Speedway and Nascar (if you like that kind of thing), Blue Man Group, wonderful state parks, great gay bars (perfect for a fun night out with girl friends haha), yum restaurants, and for me, favorite friends :)

My favorite thing about Florida is that you aren't ever too far from the water. At my previous job, this was the view from my parking space in the garage:

Sometimes I would just eat my lunch on the roof of my car, enjoying the breeze on Bayshore Boulevard.

"Favorite of the Week" Link Up #10

My favorite of the week this week is actually not a product!! I finally got a chance to catch up on some TV this weekend, and I was so excited to watch the One Tree Hill season premiere!

I work Wednesday nights so I had to DVR it and I didn't have time to watch it until Saturday! I was trying to keep my distance from Twitter because I didn't want anyone to spoil it for me. For those of you who don't know, this is the final season. After watching these characters for 9 wonderful years, I am both excited and sad to start this new season.

Even though there are a lot of great shows I watch like Revenge, Once Upon A Time and Vampire Diaries, I am more excited this week to see the second episode of One Tree Hill than I am any other show! Last week's episode left me so excited for this week, I hope every episode is like that!

Philadelphia Restaurant Week

At the end of the month Philly restaurant week returns and Tim and I have decided we need try more restaurants in the city. The first restaurant we're going to try is...

I have wanted to eat there for the longest time, I'm so excited to go. It was a really tough decision because so many of my fave restaurants are participating like The Capital Grille, Del Frisco's, McCormick & Schmick's, and Morton's. Not to mention all the restaurants I've been meaning to eat at over the years and just haven't (even Le Bec Fin is participating, holy cow). Restaurant week is a great time to try something new or to visit one of your favorite spots.

So thanks to all of your help spreading the word, I hit 200 followers yesterday! Woohoo! I remember just starting out and only having 30 followers and being amazed at that. At the end of the day, I write about what makes me happy, but it's you guys who drive me to do this everyday. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart. I cherish all the awesome friendships I've made from blogging and hope to make many more!

"Favorite of the Week" Link Up #9

This week's favorite was a Christmas present to myself. A few days after Christmas, Tim and I did a little shopping and I happened to just conveniently stop by the Michael Kors store. My intention was purely to purchase a case for my iPad, but I was overwhelmed by the amazing sale they were having and ended up purchasing something else as well.

I really wanted a nice travel bag (my justification) for my upcoming trip to Florida and for future trips as well. Plus, it really was at a steal so I couldn't pass it down. I wanted something big enough to put my iPad in and all the crap I need to have with me on the plane i.e. magazines, bottle of water, snack or two, a book, iPod, wallet, etc. Anyway, I can't wait to use it for my trip in a couple weeks. I've never owned a Michael Kors bag yet, so I'm really excited to have my first one. Here are a couple pictures I took of it.

The Hunger Games Movie Nail Polish Collection

No, I'm not kidding. In true Hollywood fashion, they have made another nail polish collection from a movie (much like The Muppets and Burlesque by OPI). This time it's China Glaze getting the spotlight with their "Colours from the Capitol" collection. They released this ad featuring Elizabeth Banks as Effie Trinket just a couple weeks ago.

The slogan reads, "What will you be wearing to the opening ceremonies?"

Now I think this is a great promo idea, but part of me just doesn't think it matches all that well with the plot of the movie. What do you guys think?

The Return of Television

So the holiday's are over and it's back to the grind again, but you know what that means? Winter break for TV shows is over!! Water for Elephants Review

I had been wanting to read this book for a while. A lot of people said it was a great read, so I was very excited to finally sit down and read it. I had not seen the movie until after I read the book, and I'm very glad I did. The book was amazing. It wasn't what I thought it was going to be at all! I was really surprised by the story. I had assumed that it was going to be mostly about a love story when really it was more like a history lesson about circus' and circus life (which was fine with me). It was really unlike anything I had read and I really enjoyed it.

Here is the description from Amazon:

Though he may not speak of them, the memories still dwell inside Jacob Jankowski's ninety-something-year-old mind. Memories of himself as a young man, tossed by fate onto a rickety train that was home to the Benzini Brothers Most Spectacular Show on Earth. Memories of a world filled with freaks and clowns, with wonder and pain and anger and passion; a world with its own narrow, irrational rules, its own way of life, and its own way of death. The world of the circus: to Jacob it was both salvation and a living hell.

Jacob was there because his luck had run out—orphaned and penniless, he had no direction until he landed on this locomotive "ship of fools." It was the early part of the Great Depression, and everyone in this third-rate circus was lucky to have any job at all. Marlena, the star of the equestrian act, was there because she fell in love with the wrong man, a handsome circus boss with a wide mean streak. I definitely recommend this book to anyone. I was extremely disappointed with the movie and would not recommend that at all. It was totally different from the book and even though I love Rob and Reese, I felt that there wasn't any chemistry between them. At times, it was awkward to watch them to be honest.

Christmas Recap in Pictures

I'm sure like most of you, I have a very busy couple of days for Christmas. There's always so much to do in such little time. In my family, our traditions have slightly changed over time. Our current family traditions start on Christmas Eve. Every year my dad and step mom make a fantastic Ukrainian dinner. It usually consists of lobster tail, pasta and homemade cream of mushroom soup. This year, they decided to go with a surf and turf instead, but I was not complaining!

The finished product: Lobster, london broil with a balsamic and mushroom reduction, garlic green beans, angel hair pasta and plenty of butter!

My favorite salad: Pear and blue cheese with an apricot vinaigrette.

Christmas day starts early at my house. My 13 year old sister had us up at 7:30 to begin our day. Here's what it looked like down stairs.

We are in the process of redoing the living room, so don't mind the carpet and furniture!

After we're done with presents, I get ready and head on over to Tim's house to celebrate with his family. Since his sister just bought a house, she hosted Christmas this year. So I got to see all of Tim's family and open presents with them.

"Favorite of the Week" Link Up #8

Sorry about missing last weeks post, I had such a busy Christmas weekend that I was semi burnt out and just plain forgot about the link up. My bad guys, my bad. I promise not to let it happen again.

So my favorite of the week this week was a surprise present from my Dad and Stepmom....

I was so shocked and excited that I immediately started crying. My sister and I thought we were done, and they pull out a box and a card. I wish there were pictures but unfortunately you just had to be there. The iPad was in a Coach box with even the same wrapping from Coach, I was totally fooled! Thought I was getting a Coach bag!! LOL!

My sister got the card which said, "go look in dad's car." Inside was a trampoline (in a massive box of course). My sister has been begging for one for years to no avail. She was so excited.

Needless to say it was an awesome Christmas. I can't wait to share with you guys all of the stuff I got along with some iPad accessories I've already picked out. Figuring out my favorite this week was a no brainier.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo Film Review

After I got off of work on my birthday last week, the only thing I wanted to do was go see this movie. Now you guys know that I am usually disappointed with book to movie conversions, but I have to say that I was extremely impressed with this movie.

First off, Rooney Mara did a FANTASTIC job as Lisbeth Salander. All the piercings she has in the movie she actually got done for her role (there were a lot btw). She was exactly how I had imagined her in my mind as I read the book. I hope she gets some recognition for her role. During an interview, the director had touched on other actresses that were being considered for the role and I'm so glad they chose Rooney. I couldn't have imagined that character being played by Scarlett Johansson, Anne Hathaway, Natalie Portman, Ellen Page or Carrie Mulligan. As far as the other actors cast, I was very happy with those choices as well. You really can't go wrong with Daniel Craig, Christopher Plummer or Robin Wright.

The transformation from book to movie was almost flawless. The things that were left out were not important, only a small amount was even changed and you didn't need to read the book to understand the movie. I think I only answered two questions Tim had after the movie was over.

I've talked to people who have seen that have read the book and who haven't. The ones that read the book are impressed and the one who didn't read the book now want to. When my mother saw the preview for the book she shuddered and said, "No, I can't see that." My grandmother ended up dragging her to see it and now she's reading the books and wants to see the movie again.

It was beautifully done and I can't wait until the second and third movies come out! Just be prepared at the theater, this movie is 3 hours long.

It's OK:

To have gotten every freaking thing you put on your Christmas list (and then some).

To have NOT gone overboard with food over the holidays.

To never be able to find the perfect gift for your father.

To have shopped up until 3 pm on Christmas Eve.

To take the time to meet up with people you haven't seen in years.

To want to spend ALL the money you got for Christmas instead of saving it.

To cry when you opened up a certain gift.

To have filled a 3 foot tall bag full of (new) dog toys that all 4 dogs got for Christmas.

To not believe how fast the holiday season went.

To hope and pray that 2012 is a good year.

To have gotten every Harry Potter book and DVD for Christmas.

To be grateful for being able to spend time with family and friends over the holidays.

To have not gotten a white Christmas after all (but it did flurry for 10 minutes on Christmas Eve, just for affect I guess).
