Love It...or Leave It

I've been going out on a limb and trying a few new products over the last couple months.
They were either recommendations from people (including many of you), presents or I saw an advertisement and thought, "oh what the hell".
Overall, I have to say I liked most of the products, only a couple really let me down.
Check out which products I loved and the ones I'm gonna leave behind.

Maybelline Colossal Volum' Express Cat Eyes
I already have a few of the Maybelline Volum' Express mascaras, but I have to say this one has quickly become my favorite. The key to this mascara is the brush. It is curved in such a way that it really gets all those pesky lashes in the corners so ALL of your lashes get volume and length!
Verdict: Love It

TIGI Rockaholic Dirty Secret Dry Shampoo
The reason I tried this product was because I hated my current dry shampoo which was by Tresemme. I walked into Ulta one day and saw this was on sale for $8 (originally $21). It was a no-brainer. This has a better scent and works so much better than the one I had. Now, will I pay full price for it? I'm not sure yet. Hopefully, I'll have this can for a while.
Verdict: Love It

Tresemme Heat Tamer Spray
I was told by more than one person that I needed a heat protectant spray. It was just something I never used. Since using this spray, I have noticed a difference and so has my hairdresser! It's so quick and simple, I can't imagine not using it. It just does wonders.
Verdict: Love It

Freeman Anti-Stress Dead Sea Minerals Facial Mask
I've heard good things about Freeman masks. My sister actually got 5 of them in a variety pack for Christmas. I use this once a week and it really rejuvenates my skin whether I'm breaking out or my skin is a little dry.
Verdict: Love It

Andrea Eye Q's Eye Make-Up Correctors
I received these as a Christmas gift this year. While they do work, I don't see any difference than dipping a Q-Tip in eye makeup remover. I probably won't pay extra to have this already done for me.
Verdict: Leave It

Sally Hansen Problem Cuticle Remover
I was told my one of my bloggie besties to get Sally Hansen's Instant Cuticle Remover, unfortunately when I went to Target, there was no more to be seen. So I picked this up instead. Although it works for the most part, I'm still holding out to find the instant one. Even after using this lotion as directed, I still have to go over my cuticles with a cuticle trimmer (which I hate to do because I always cut myself).
Verdict: Leave It

Vaseline Cocoa Radiant Vitalizing Body Gel Oil
I was really apprehensive about this product. I was scared it was going to make me break out and to be honest I wasn't really sure what to do with it. Was it in place of a moisturizer? Would it absorb quickly? When I first started to use it, I put it all over my body. That probably wasn't the best idea. It didn't absorb as quick and I felt like I was using tanning oil. I immediately did some research on the internet. I kept using the oil all over, but then immediately followed it with my regular moisturizer. That helped a great deal. Something about my moisturizer (which is Lubriderm Advanced Therapy Lotion) made the oil absorb better into my skin. Now we've had a super cold winter here in PA so far, I have really needed the extra moisture on my skin. I ended up using it consistently enough that I only use the oil on my problem areas: knees, elbows and hips. This product started out as a nightmare and ended up as a godsend. I highly recommend it.
Verdict: Love It

Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes
This was another item I got in my stocking for Christmas. I really didn't think I was going to like them because I already had my face washing routine down. I have to admit, this is the product for lazy nights. Some nights, I really don't feel like washing my face. I know it's bad to sleep in your makeup, but sometimes I just take off my eye makeup and hit the hay (don't judge). Now when I feel my laziness coming on, I just use these towelettes. It's not a deep clean, but it at least gets most of the product off your face, which is better than nothing. Not to sound cheesy or anything, but they really are calming too.
Verdict: Love It

So there you have it.
Do you have any of these products?
Do you love them or have you kicked them to the curb?
What are some products you've loved or hated?
I'd love to know!
Until next time (meaning tomorrow)...

Erin's Etsy Spotlight #9

A few weeks ago, I won a sweet giveaway from this girl, and it couldn't have come at a more perfect time.
Know what I hate to do?
Buy cards.
Birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, blah, blah, blah.
It's so tedious and to be honest, the gift is what everyone wants anyway.
Am I right?

The giveaway I won was to an Etsy shop called JulieAnnArt, owned by the lovely Julie Ann of course.
Her specialty?
I won 5 fabulous cards so this girl doesn't have to go to CVS or Target and stand in the aisle for 20 minutes to find "the perfect card". I already got 'em! And they were sent right to me!

I got 5 cards perfect for EVERY occasion.

Best friend's 30th birthday? Yep.

Friend's wedding? Done.

Valentine's Day? Check.

Little sister not so little anymore? Badabing.

And finally, it's always good to have a "just because" card for the fiance.

They're unique.
They're witty.
There's one for every occasion.
And they ship directly to my home.

Some of my other favorites include:

So true.
I don't have one, but I thought this was hysterical.
What I think about most of my friends. Why not tell them in a card?
Best Christmas card ever.
Who doesn't like chickens? Hehe.
Love these cards too?
I knew you would.
Make sure you follow Julie's shop on Twitter and Facebook.
And please, tell her I sent you.

Happy Friday!

This is What Happens When I Get Low on Blog Post Ideas...

I  come across amazing posts from fellow bloggers that help me out on a slow week.
At least some of you are being creative lately.

Listening...Lissie - "Go Your Own Way" from the Safe Haven trailer.
Eating...My grandmother's homemade cookies called kiffles (I only get them once a year).
Drinking...Milk, duh, I'm eating cookies.
Wearing...Pajamas. Flannel pajama pants from Gilligan & OMalley at Target and a t-shirt from Harpoon Brewery in Boston.
Feeling...Productive, I'm getting a lot done tonight.
Weather...38 degrees and raining. Expected to get freezing rain and snow into the morning. Sweet.
Needing...To get more sleep. My schedule is still off from the holidays.
Wanting...To get a job soon. 2013 is my year, I know it.
Thinking...That I shouldn't let certain stuff bother me, in the end I'm the better person. I have no trouble sleeping at night.
Enjoying...Eating these amazing cookies.
... inspired by this.

Organization is Always a Great New Year's Resolution

I hate New Years resolutions.
I never seem to keep them longer then the month of January.
However, I've been able to find one that actually lasts me all year round.
Unfortunately, I'm limited in space right now or I'd be doing more. Once Tim and I are in our own place again, there will be many stops at Target, IKEA and the Container Store.
All three of those stores are best for organizing at a reasonable price. I swear by them.

Anyway, I always need to reorganize the cabinet under my sink. It seems to get out of control every few months or so. Ever since I implemented a few of these techniques, I only need to tidy up. No more mess!

Way, way back in my early days of blogging I reorganized the cabinet under my sink. It was very successful. Back then though, I had way more space because Tim and I had our own place. Now, being back at home, I have more crap that needs to fit in a smaller space. I also needed to find a new home for my always growing nail polish collection. Should I tell you I need to order another bin for that? Shocker.

All containers were purchased at Target except the nail polish bin, that was purchased here.
The accessories container is an easy move for when I need to get to my polish.

Now, as far the makeup goes, getting that container was a life saver.
I needed to cut down on my counter space and this helped a lot.

I could probably use a divider in the last drawer for all my eyeliners and mascara, but other than that I find things super easy.

There you have it.
It doesn't have to be drastic or cost you ungodly amounts.
This whole set up cost me under $20 and only took a half hour of my time to do.

How do you currently organize that "under the sink" mess?

Sequins and Heels

That was my New Years desert that I inhaled in 30 seconds flat.
Wanna know why there isn't a picture of my dinner (which was an amazing lobster ravioli btw)?
Because I ate it in about 5 minutes flat.
I was starving.
And I saved absolutely nothing for Tim to try, and he was mad.

Our last night of 2012 was spent with some of our closest friends, having dinner and drinks.

The dress I wore?
THE perfect NYE dress.
It's of course from the one and only Kiki La'Rue.

I hope you had a happy and safe New Year!!
See you on Monday!

My Favorite Book of 2012

I didn't read as much in 2012 as I would have liked, but what I did read I loved.
Back in August, I finally read the book, The Passage by Justin Cronin.
It was published in 2010 and immediately sky rocketed to The New York Times Best Sellers List.
In case you haven't read it, you can read my review.

Cutting to the chase, I loved it. But I have to admit, I didn't know what I was getting myself into. When I finished the book, I was pissed. It ended with several major cliff hangers. I had no idea it was the first book of a series. A sense of panic and relief washed over me. When was the next book coming out? How long would I have to wait in agony?

Luckily, it was just a short 2 months. The second book, The Twelve, came out in October. I finally managed to start reading it around Thanksgiving. Once again it was massive with small print and I had to wiki the first book at times to refresh my memory. There are a bazillion characters to remember.

Again, I couldn't put it down. I loved it.
Now I have to wait until 2014 for the final book.
It will be totally worth it.

From goodreads:

At the end of The Passage, the great viral plague had left a small group of survivors clinging to life amidst a world transformed into a nightmare. In the second volume of this epic trilogy, this same group of survivors, led by the mysterious, charismatic Amy, go on the attack, leading an insurrection against the virals: the first offensives of the Second Viral War.

To do this, they must infiltrate a dozen hives, each presided over by one of the original Twelve. Their secret weapon: Alicia, transformed at the end of book one into a half human, half viral—but whose side, in the end, is she really on?

Honestly, that description doesn't even scratch the surface of the book.
There is so much going on, with new twists and turns.
This series has kept me on the edge of my seat. I cannot wait until 2014.
Oh, and apparently the movie rights have been sold. Score!

Are you on goodreads?
Make sure we're friends.

Have you read The Passage or The Twelve
How did The Twelve compare as a sequel?

A Very Erin Christmas

Yeah I know Christmas was two weeks ago.
Get over it.
This is me trying to make the busy holiday season last just a little bit longer.
It's always over in such a flash.
Cheers to my favorite time of year.
Now it's time to celebrate with all of you.

In Pennsylvania, we got snow on Christmas Eve.
It was the first time in a very long time we saw a white Christmas.
And of course I took advantage of my new camera.

Tradition: our Christmas Eve dinner

Trying my luck with the self timer

The morning haul

This girl got a pair of Michael Kors slippers
My sis opening the luggage set we got her

Posing with my new MK bag, thanks Dad and Cyndie!
My sister's big gift of the day, a Canon Rebel DSLR
Aunt Chris surrounded by all the dogs as usual
The fam
As always Christmas was a massive success.
I surprised Tim with an iPad mini.
We surprised my parents with a freezer.
And of course in all the excitement of the day, there isn't one picture of just Tim and me.
You win some, you lose some.

How was your Christmas?
What was your favorite gift?
