My Frankenstorm Survival Kit

I want to preface this post by saying, I'm probably going to be MIA this week considering we're in a state of emergency until who knows when.
I have tons of posts for you to read, but considering there might be 50 million of us without power for a week, I'll save them for later.
Try not to miss me too much!

If you live on the eastern seaboard, most likely you're dealing with this...

How hysterical is this graphic?
Classic.

But seriously, all joking aside.

Help me.
Those graphics are cute, but this is what Sandy really looks like:

You can't even see us!

Since I'll probably be hunkered down the next couple of days, praying that there's power, I put together a little Frankenstorm survival kit I'd like to share with you.

My iPad - it's fully charged and ready to go with movies for when the power goes out. I put on some Harry Potter, Hunger Games, Twilight and Dark Knight.

Rain Boots - in case I have to venture out for any reason.

Flashlight - so I don't run into a wall trying to go to the bathroom.

The Big Bang Theory Game - to play in the daylight while we're without power. My sister and I are psyched for this.

Books - I would love to start this bad boy. I need to finish my current book, but then I'm ready to start The Twelve.

Vodka - this storm may drive me to drink.

6 lb. bag of Gummy Bears - the largest bag you can get at BJ's for under $5.

Grill - when you can't use your stove, oven or microwave, your grill becomes your new BFF. You'll even be able to heat up soup! Just don't get blown away in the process and don't forget to fill your propane!

So, what's in your hurricane survival kit??

If you're on the east coat please be safe during this weather. Stay put and be careful!
I'll keep you all posted via twitter and/or facebook so make sure you follow!!

Toy & Treat Swap Reveal

I love swaps.
I wish I could afford to do every single one of them.
When I saw this cute swap specifically for my four legged kids, I just had to jump on it.

And of course I was paired up with another truly amazing blogger and close blog friend, Kristine (aka Tree - don't even try to understand it).
Her four legged kids, Marlin and Frank, sent my critters some awesome stuff that they've been playing with all week!

I told her Dakota LOVES peanut butter and tennis balls and Utley LOVES ropes.

2 of everything so they don't fight!
Well I tried to get pictures of them playing with the ropes. They played tug of war for hours and I couldn't get a good, non-blurry shot. So you'll have to settle for pictures of Utley attempting to eat the rope herself.

You can see the toy basket in the background that's already full of toys. Btw, that's 1 of 2 that they have.
Spoiled!!

Thank you Aunt Kristine for all our new toys and treats!
And thank you to Cole and Nola for hosting such a great and unique swap!!

What I'm Watching

I watch a lot of TV.
I don't normally like adding new shows to my repertoire, but sometimes it works out.
I added a few goodies this year and I'm happy I did.
I hope they're on your lists as well.
If not, they need to be soon.

The newbies:

 Nashville
This show is amazing. If you haven't checked it out yet, you must. I got quite a few people addicted to it. Even if you're not a country music fan, it's a must see. And it actually got me into some of the music. You can download it on iTunes.
 The New Normal
I love Ellen Barkin in this show, her and Andrew Rannells make this show. It can get a little off the cuff, but I'm not offended easily. A nice laugh out loud new comedy.

Emily Owens M.D.
I gave this show a shot because I was super bored one night and I was pleasantly surprised. It's like Grey's Anatomy meets Ally McBeal. Love it. You can't go wrong with one of Meryl Streep's daughters either.

The Veterans:

 The Vampire Diaries
I'm hoping something else comes out of this Elena being a vampire storyline. I just feel like it's too early to have done this and she's getting off kind of easy. Everyone else had a hell of a time adjusting to life as a vampire. Elena seems to have little problem. I still love it, but I'm hoping it picks up a bit.

 Supernatural
I legit can't believe this show has been on for 8 years. I also can't believe that I still watch it, but every year I tune in for more. I just love Sam and Dean and I love looking at them too. An oldy, but a goody.
Revenge
Do I really need to say anything about this show? If you watch it, you get it. If you don't, I suggest you renting last season and catching up.
 Once Upon A Time
I think the plot of this show is so unique, it surprises me every week. I'm so happy it's back.

 Boardwalk Empire
With all the vampire and fairy crap I watch, I need a little gangster in my life.

Gossip Girl
I never finished season 5 so I haven't started the final season yet. It sounds like it's in.sane! I can't wait to catch up!

 The Big Bang Theory
If you don't love this show, there is something wrong with you. I could watch this show all day everyday and not grow tired of it.

What I'm waiting for:

Counting down the days till these shows hit the airwaves in 2013.

What are you watching right now?
I love suggestions, send them my way!

Obligatory Twilight Post

Yep, it's that time again.
It's also the last time.
And that makes me sad.
Even though these movies were a major disappointment, I'm still obsessed.
And I'll go see it 4 or 5 times in the theaters.
Don't judge.

In case you have no idea what I'm talking about, Breaking Dawn Part 2 (or Part Deux as I like to say it) comes out November 16th. For those of you who didn't get my Hot Shots movie reference, shame on you!

Anyway, with the release of the movie comes all types of stuff.
New posters, trailers and most importantly: soundtrack.
I will say this, never mind the movie's short comings, the soundtracks have always rocked my world.
This one no doubt will do the same.

Here's the lineup for Breaking Dawn Part 2 Soundtrack due out November 13th:

Passion Pit, "Where I Come From"
Ellie Goulding, "Bittersweet"
Green Day, "The Forgotten"
Feist, "Fire in the Water"
The Boom Circuits, "Everything and Nothing"
St. Vincent, "The Antidote"
POP ETC, "Speak Up"
Iko, "Heart of Stone"
A Boy and His Kite, "Cover Your Tracks"
James Vincent McMorrow, "Ghosts"
Paul McDonald and Nikki Reed, "All I've Ever Needed"
Reeve Carney, "New for You"
Christina Perri, "A Thousand Years (Part Two)"
Carter Burwell, "Plus Que Ma Prope Vie"

Already loving Passion Pit, Feist and Ellie Goulding's tracks. I usually don't buy music from the album until after I've seen the movie.

It's less than a month away, yep I'm pretty excited.

And have you seen this at your theater?

I've seen the ads at my theaters.
All 5 movies in a row.
Holy overload.
I'm totally intrigued.
I know no one would go with me.
Plus, I'm too old to sit that long.

Are you excited for the final Breaking Dawn Part 2?

I'm Kind of a Big Deal

So, I got a little surprise the other day.
I was going through my email and as I was deleting pretty much everything in there, something stood out.
It was an email from Twitter telling me about some of my new followers.
One of them being Carly Rae Jepsen.
I didn't really think anything of it because I get followed by fake celeb accounts constantly. Spam.

So when I logged on to twitter I saw this:

Yep, that's really her account.
It's totally not managed by her.
She's following 77,000 people. I mean come on.
But still.
Someone famous follows me.
Even if her music isn't that great, it is catchy.
And that makes me kind of a big deal.
Which is not a surprise to most of you.
I hope this made your day or at least made you giggle.

The Most Amazing Giveaway Ever

If you don't know my friend Veronika, you should probably go introduce yourself.
I don't know if you remember, but I won 2 amazing giveaways from her.
And when I say amazing, they were freaking amazing. You can read about them here and here.

Anyway, Veronika has a sweet blog called Veronika's Kandy Koated Dreams.
And she has decided to giveaway the most amazing thing ever.
Yes, I know I've said amazing a lot in this post.
I don't care.

She's giving away a Louis V.
No, I'm not lying.
Not just any Louis V.
A Mon Monogrammed Speedy.
Yes, this is real life.
Yes, I had to smack myself to believe it.

Go say hello to Veronika, because not only is she having the most amazing giveaway, but she's literally the sweetest person I've ever talked to.

One more thing, if you enter, make sure you tell her that I sent you.

I don't know about you, but I'll be picking out my monogram colors. LOL.

Good luck!

For Some Reason Fall Makes Me Paint My Nails

I slacked all summer with painting my nails.
You would think fall would prove to be much of the same.
Nope.
Apparently I'm inspired more to paint my nails when it's a tad bit chilly outside.
Who knew?

It probably doesn't hurt that I bought a crap ton of polish to aid my addiction.

L'Oreal Color Riche in Club Prive
L'Oreal Color Riche in Jet Set to Paris
So, those e.l.f. colors? They don't come with names.
They've been on display at Target and I originally bought a couple of them for Neely during our Fall Swap.
I decided I need a couple as well.
The first one is what I was wearing when I got engaged.
The color looks really good in different lights. It was a great purchase.

I never get sick of looking this and neither should you. LOL
Jana is an awesome neutral color to wear at any time of the year.

And then there's the lovely Jana from Zoya
I'm really into a lot of blues and I was so happy to try out a color that I got from my swap with Neely.

Unfor-greta-bly Blue by OPI
So what color am I going to use next? Stay tuned.

What are your favorite fall colors right now?

I Can Finally Curl My Hair With a Straightener

A few weeks ago, I was contacted by the lovely folks over at Misikko to test drive a Hana flat iron.
And not just any flat iron, the Best Flat Iron Hana has to offer!

To say I was shocked when Misikko contacted me was an understatement. The experience I had with hair straighteners up until this point was pretty low.
My hair is naturally wavy, but if I blow dry it it is pretty straight. I've never really needed a straightener.
I've ALWAYS wanted to be able to curl my hair with a straightener, but I could never justify spending the money to get a really good one. I didn't think I'd use it that often.
So needless to say when Misikko said, "Hey, would you like to try out a high end straightener for free?" I said HELL YES!

Considering my current straightener was a $20 Conair one, I'd say this was a step up.

First of all, Misikko hooked me up!

Talk about a haul, huh?
My favorite part?
The heat mat.
I can put the iron on any surface, let it cool and totally walk away from it with out worrying.
So, how did my curling experience turn out?

Tighter curls with some body.

Looser, more elegant curls.
Plus I forgot I had this full pic of me from the wedding last weekend.
A lot of you were asking about this dress.
Well, what do you think?
This is my new favorite toy.
Thank you to Brian at Misikko for sending me such an awesome gift!
Make sure to check out all of Hana's pro salon items.

Erin's Etsy Spotlight #5

Untitled

Yes boys and girls it's time for another Erin's Etsy Spotlight!
I know you guys were just waiting for it since I didn't do one last week.
Calm down.

This week's shop is so cute, I'm so excited to share it with you.
I came across the store, Classic Spinner, while looking for some gloves.
I don't know about you guys, but my gloves get beat up during winter.
Between tailgating, snow shoveling, skiing, you name it...they don't last me more than a couple seasons.

I'm also all about functionality. I love gloves that are fingerless, so I can use my phone or whatever I need without having to take off the whole damn glove. And yes I know about those new gloves for touch screen phones. Not cute.

Anyway, Classic Spinner has functional gloves for a reasonable price and guess what? They're made from Angora and Alpaca. How cool is that?
It's pretty cool.

Here's some the shop's items that are on my list:

Glittens - $39.99

Fingerless Gloves - $34.45

Fingerless Armwarmers - $44.45

Booties - $22.45

How freaking cute are those booties?
I know you wanna head over there now and buy me something for Christmas.
Do it.
Speaking of Christmas, I might be buying some presents from this shop.
You have my wishlist, go splurge!

Have any recommendations for an Etsy spotlight? Do you have an Etsy shop and want to be featured?
Shoot me an email, we'll be in touch.

Have a great weekend!

Fashionably Fall

Here in southeast PA, it's finally starting to feel like fall.
I have officially put my flip flops away and moved my boots back into my closet.
Oh how I missed them!

I love the beginning of a season.
It's like I have a whole new wardrobe!
All "new" shirts and blazers that haven't been worn in 9 months!
So, what did I wear for my first fall evening?

Tweed coat from GAP
Top from H&M
Tank from Old Navy
Zelda Jean Legging from Express
Intyce Boot from Steve Madden
Two Tone Parker Glitz Watch from Michael Kors
Necklace unknown (gift)

No, I'm not a New Orleans Saints fan.
My dad was there on business and brought me back that necklace. Even though I don't like the Saints, I love Fleur de lis.
Oh and sorry for the dark pictures. I really have no good place to take OOTD's.
I'm working on that.

Have you been able to start wearing your fall wardrobe yet?

From the Woods to the Beach

Have I told you I have a TON of weddings coming up?
Tim and I have more weddings coming up than we've EVER been to, in 9 years!
AND we just had back to back wedding weekends.
It's pretty insane.

So those back to back weddings were pretty fun.
This story begins in a small town in Pennsylvania named Brackney aka middle of f-ing nowhere near the NY border.
Our friends Kirat and Jim were getting married; outside, in the rain in 50 degree weather. Yep.

I have no pictures of me in my dress. As soon as the ceremony was over a bunch of us ladies changed right into our jeans and heavy coats and got ready to paaaaarrrrtaaaayyy.
Unfortunately, the boys didn't have a change of clothes. They wore their suits all night.
It makes for a great story and a really fun wedding.

Me with nugget aka Asa, she has the best expressions

Cake time!

First dance

My fave VA ladies (missed you Mel)

Me in my casual clothes while Tim rocks the 3 piece suit

So happy I got to spend a whole weekend with these ladies

Our beautiful drive home

Fall is in full effect up here
Fast forward to the next weekend.
Tim's cousin Holly was getting married.
In Dewey, Delaware.
For those who don't know, it's a super cute beach town.
Fave part of the weekend?
The hotel was next to the ceremony and reception. 30 seconds and you were back to the hotel, no driving necessary.

The ceremony view, beautiful!

Holly and Brandon

Dressing it up
One Shoulder Mixed Lace Dress from bebe

Enjoying fall time at the beach

First for everything: my UGGs in the sand

Enjoying the nice day
I guess technically that was my Wednesday Weekend Recap.
I hope you enjoyed it.
You know what I'm going to enjoy?
No more traveling until the holidays!!
I'm very excited to sleep in my own bed for a while.

What have your weekends looked like lately?

Have you seen who won my Kiki La'Rue Giveaway? It could be you!
