Fashion Friday

Happy Friday everyone! Today I'm linking up with the fabulous and amazing Kori from Blonde Episodes for Fashion Friday! I've been meaning to do this for a while because usually by Friday I am completely out of ideas to post for you guys. Lately, I've been skipping my Friday posts (my bad). Since I'm so determined not to do that anymore I thought that maybe starting a new Friday tradition might be the way to go. So, don't know what Fashion Friday is? Well all you have to do is post something about fashion and you can link up! Easy as pie.

This week, I've realized that I have been buying up an insane amount of flats for spring. So my Fashion Friday post is all about, yep you guessed it...FLATS!

A pair of Tory Revas are always classic

You should always have at least one pair of sparkly flats

These Kate Spade ones are to die for

Stripes are definitely in for spring

Hunger Games Soundtrack Update

So back in February I posted the apparent track listing for The Hunger Games Soundtrack (see post). Well, since the actual soundtrack was released this week, there were a few changes. I had never seen a track listing be posted and then be different when it actually came out. iTunes does warn you if you pre-order it, but I never pre-order unless I am 100% certain about the music and I never am. I guess I just play it safe when it comes to my music. So anyway, I'm actually really impressed with one of the changes. There was an addition of a Maroon 5 song I fell in love with. Anyway, I downloaded a bunch of songs from it, here are my faves:

Arcade Fire - Abraham's Daughter
Birdy - Just a Game
The Civil Wars - Kingdom Come
Jayme Dee - Rules
Kid Cudi - The Ruler and the Killer
The Low Anthem - Lover Is Childlike
Maroon 5 feat. Rozzi Crane - Come Away to the Water
Miranda Lambert feat. Pistol Annies - Run Daddy Run
Neko Case - Nothing to Remember
Taylor Swift - Eyes Open

Did you download the soundtrack? What were some of your favorite songs?

Don't forget to enter my giveaway for a chance to win a gorgeous piece of jewelry from Morgan Prather Accessories!!

Weekend Recap in Pictures

All of you know that I went to see the Hunger Games this weekend, but I did a lot things and I took a few pictures that I thought I'd share. Enjoy!

Started off the weekend seeing The Hunger Games with my little sis who turned 14 on Thursday! This was her waiting patiently in the theater.

This was my OOTD for the movie. It was 80 degrees here!
Chambray Shirt from Express
White Shorts from Express
Jessica Simpson Gladiator Sandals
Tortoise Fossil Watch
Bracelet from H&M
Charmed I'm Sure Necklace from Jessica Elliot Jewelry
Earrings from H&M
Beaded Bracelet from Target

So Saturday night we went out to celebrate Alex's birthday at her favorite restaurant Ooka.
White Stella Fossil Watch
Wrap Bracelet from Mary and Dyer
Bangle Bracelets from H&M
Feather Earrings from Buckle
Elle Nude Heels from Kohl's
Sweater from H&M
Mini Skirt from H&M
I then topped it off with my black leather biker jacket which I forgot to take a picture of.

This was her awesome birthday cake make by my step mom.

Blowing out her candles!

After dinner, Tim and I went out with some friends and I had spend too long on my feet and bit it stepping off the curb and totally messed up my shoes! Bummer! Anyone know how to fix this? They don't make these anymore!

I ended my weekend watching Twilight and eating left over sushi! LOL.

How was your weekend?

"Favorite of the Week" Link Up #20 & A Movie Review

Everything According to Erin

I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend! Did you get to see the Hunger Games? Well I got to see it...twice. I know I'm not shocking any of you by this, but my favorite of the week has to be the biggest movie of the year.

So I had the pleasure of seeing this movie twice this weekend. I saw it on Friday with my sister for her birthday. I took her to see the IMAX version with the tickets I had won from Lionsgate. Then, Tim and I went to see it Sunday afternoon.

First off, the IMAX version gave me a wicked headache. I've never had good luck with IMAX movies in a traditional IMAX theater. I was in pain half way into it. So when I went to see it again in a regular theater I thought I'd be able to concentrate more on the movie. Well I was kinda right. There are a lot of scenes (especially in fighting scenes) that are shot from a hand held camera, not many panned shots where the camera is steady. I realized later that the reason for this is probably because of the PG-13 rating. It left a little more to be desired, but I understand why they did it. I mean, the book is violent, but they wanted to stay true to the young adult fan base. So in certain scenes where there is fighting or Katniss is running through the woods, it's very hard to actually see what is going on. One of my few cons about the movie.

Casting...AMAZING. Unlike Twilight where I was super disappointed about almost every character, they got every character to a T for the Hunger Games. I was never worried about Jennifer Lawrence, but she blew me away. I was so impressed though with Stanley Tucci, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks and Lenny Kravitz. They all played their characters exactly how they should be. No complaints here. Favorite line of the movie HAD to be Effie, " (Gasp) That is mahogany!" So her!

Special effects were great, when you're reading the book some of the things described (especially in the arena) are hard to visualize. I think they did a great job of bringing it to life. I was also impressed at the scenes that were added that were not in the book. Everything is from Katniss' perspective so you just aren't previewed to certain things. In the movie you were, it was really nice to see the interaction between Seneca Crane and President Snow and Seneca Crane and Haymitch. It filled in some gaps. I also really liked the fact that they added the riot in District 11 scene. You don't even know about this in the book. I personally liked the addition.

I was a little disappointed with the amount of time spent on developing Peeta's and Katniss' relationship. I understand it's a movie and some things just can't make it in, but I felt like they should have developed it a little more. By the time the games had started, Katniss was already feeling something for Peeta she just wasn't letting it in because she knew she had to let him go. I just felt in the movie it was portrayed to be too forced. If that makes sense. At the end Haymitch tells Katniss how she needs to act desperately in love to save their lives after the arena, so she goes over the top to make people believe. She has feelings for Peeta, she's just finally getting to deal with them. It was my impression that the movie made it seem more fake then it was. That's just my perspective.

As far as changes and cuts, I wasn't too disturbed by them. I think they made it work. You can't fit everything into two and a half hours. It would have been nice to spend a little more time in District 12, but I'm sure we will once Catching Fire comes out. What did you think about The Hunger Games?

What's your favorite of the week?

Thank You Again...Pinterest

I saw this awesome DIY skirt on Pinterest and just had to repin immediately. And then I thought that I needed to share it with all of you because if anyone can recreate this it's definitely one of my readers. I want to try this so badly, but I don't know if I'll be able to find fabric like that. If anyone has any ideas definitely throw them my way. I would love to make this.

And it begins...

I follow EVERYTHING on Facebook which sometimes gets annoying because I just get bombarded some days, but then I see something like this and it makes it all worth it to me...

And apparently this isn't even the whole thing! This is the Breaking Dawn Part 2 Teaser Trailer Sneak Peek! The full teaser trailer will be released on 3/26 at 6 am on (of course) Facebook. I'm going to assume here that instead of it being 15 seconds, it will be 30. Who am I kidding? I don't care! I'll take it! I'm so excited! November can't come fast enough!

Are you excited for the final Twilight movie?

Gel Manicure

So I've never had a gel manicure, but I've really wanted to get one. I just haven't felt like paying an arm and a leg for one. Well, thank you Twitter for saving my day! I saw this earlier this week:

I think I'm going to make my appointment this week! Plus I get a free OPI polish?? I'm so in.

Gel Color Wheel

Ooooh, I don't know which color I'd choose! To check out all of the details and to find an Ulta near you, click here.

Have you ever gotten a gel manicure? What were your thoughts?

Fashion Star Designs

Last week I checked out NBC's Fashion Star. I have to admit, I kinda like how they went right in for it. Not much back story, they just went right into the designs. You learn more about the individual designers as you go. That's all fine with me because to be honest with you all I care about are the clothes. I was really surprised that Nicole Richie and Jessica Simpson did not annoy me because I was scared they would completely turn me off from the show. I was really impressed with it and I'm going to keep tuning in.

Another great thing is that H&M started an online site just for the clothes they buy from the show (thank goodness). In case you don't know, H&M still does not have online shopping for the US. I'd really like to know who's idea that was, seriously. I was worried that you wouldn't be able to buy the designs the next day, but you can. I didn't see if they had them in my local store, I just assumed they wouldn't since I'm not in a major market like LA or New York.

The three stores that compete for the designs are Macy's, Saks and H&M. Just an FYI, anything that goes to Saks is going to be over priced. My favorite design of the night was bought by Saks and the price was outrageous which stinks, but oh well. There also were a few other designs that I really liked, but were not picked up by the stores.

The rules of the show are each designer presents their designs to the buyers and mentors. At the end of the night, the designers who do not sell any of their items to the buyers will be up for elimination. In addition, celebrity mentors will be able to save one of these designers from the chopping block. In the end, one designer will successfully become the next Fashion Star and will receive the prize of a lifetime - $6,000,000 in orders for capsule collections in Macy's, H&M and Saks Fifth Avenue stores.

The designs Macy's picked up and you can purchase them here (some are sold out).
I was not a fan of any of these designs. I really liked the Maxi Dress on the runway, but I didn't like the colors they offered to purchase.

This was the only purchase from Saks tonight, you can check it out here (sold out).
This was my favorite design of the night, unfortunately Saks bought and jacked up the price ($350) AND they only offer it in one color. I liked the colors that were used for the original design. Basically it is a tight mini skirt, but has a chiffon overlay that zips off (so you can flash your you know what when it's windy out). Genius!! Below are two of the original designs from the show.

H&M's pickup that you can purchase here (sold out).
This dress was my next favorite design and it was sold out in minutes!!! Plus it was only $19.95! I hope they release more because I am in love with this blue shift dress! Apparently it's still available in stores, so I'll have to go check it out.

Fashion Star is on tonight at 10, I'll definitely be checking it out to see what designs will be premiering. They make them available as soon as the show is over at 11. I definitely don't want to miss out on another dress like I did last week!

Did you check out Fashion Star last week, what did you think?

"Favorite of the Week" Link Up #19

Everything According to Erin

Happy Monday everyone! I hope everyone had a great St. Patty's fun filled weekend! Mine was pretty low key since I technically celebrated St. Patty's day last weekend, but it was nice to just relax. Don't judge me, I re-read Breaking Dawn. It had been 3 years since I read it and I just felt the urge to do so again. It did not disappoint. Anyway, on to my favorite of the week!

So everyone knows that I've been on a lucky streak, right? I've won 4 giveaways this YEAR (yeah it's only March) AND I won Hunger Games IMAX tickets for this Friday! Cha ching! I tried playing the lottery, but my luck doesn't seem to reach to that, much to my chagrin! So Friday I received my most recent giveaway win in the mail. It was from one of my new favorite bloggers, Veronika from Veronika's Kandy Koated Dreams (if you don't follow her, you totally should now). In case you don't remember, I won her Valentine's Day giveaway (see post). She has THE most amazing giveaways filled with THE best stuff.

This month I won her "Feelin' Lucky?" St. Patrick's Day giveaway and this week it is my favorite thing...because it's awesome! Check out what was included!

Plus she threw in MAC stickers, the perfume was also an extra, an Ulta makeup case, green fortune cookies AND all these awesome samples!

Photobucket
Samples from Sephora, Murad, Philosophy, Benefit and Lancome just to name a few...

Photobucket
And just for fun, she sent me my winning ticket! She's so creative!

That's some serious stuff right there. Thank you again to Veronika for having an awesome blog and giveaway! I can't wait to try everything!

What's your favorite this week?
