Les Mis is Coming to the Big Screen

I don't know how I JUST found out about this the other day. Usually I'm totally in the know with movies. I'm pretty disappointed in myself right now. Anyway, Les Miserables is finally making a legit big screen appearance. Les Mis is my second all time favorite musical behind Phantom of the Opera which had a pretty awesome big screen remake a few years ago (did not know Gerard Butler could sing). Check out the trailer below, I'm pretty impressed with the pipes on Anne Hathaway. She's really a jack of all trades.

Wow, I'm totally psyched now. The movie set to come out in December of this year and also features Hugh Jackman as Jean Valjean, Russell Crowe as Inspector Javert, Amanda Seyfried as Cosette, Eddie Redmayne as Marius and newcomer Samantha Barks as Eponine. It's directed by Tom Hooper who did "The King's Speech". Unlike most musicals, Hooper had the actors sing live on set instead of lip-sync and added during post-production in a studio. So they will sound raw and real instead of altered. I'm looking forward to it.

Are you looking forward to this movie?

A Compliment is a Compliment...I Guess

I know we've all had our interesting experiences as bloggers. I mean, we put our lives out there on the internet for all to see. We're bound to have a few creepers, pervs and stalkers at some point.

Well, here's my first one...

Yep, that was a comment left on yesterday's post. I can't even be mad, I have to admit it made me laugh.

That's all, talk amongst yourselves.

Product Review: Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser

I must say I've been pretty impressed with Maybelline lately. I'm not biased towards higher end makeup, but there are things that I just don't waste my money on. I'm usually even when it comes to makeup. I have the same amount as (what I like to call) "over the counter makeup" and high end. Lately though, I've just been buying more expensive products because they just work better. I'm always on the look out for new products from both ends, and if it interests me I'll at least try it. Most places let you return cosmetics if you don't like them anyway, so it's not like you're losing money.

I've picked up a few new products from Maybelline (stay tuned for more reviews) and so far I'm pretty happy with them. I was on the lookout for something under my eyes. The fact is, I don't get enough sleep and I get dark circles. I don't get puffiness, just dark circles. So I'm always spending time trying to remedy that situation when I'm applying makeup. I'm leaning to shelling out the dough for a permanent fix under eye treatment from Olay or Roc that I can apply every night, but for now I'm using this.

I use this product as a base under my eyes before foundation and it is also a "treatment" concealer which means it's supposed to diminish the circles. I haven't quite noticed that, but I have permanently added this into my every day repertoire. After I've applied this product I cover it with my e.l.f. Eye Brightener and I'm ready for foundation.

My only complaint about the product is that you have to click the bottle to get the liquid to come up through the sponge. I've found that if I go a couple days without using it, the sponge tends to dry out and it's harder for the liquid to come up through it. So then you're clicking away and the next thing you know, there's product all over the place. So be careful.

**This product was purchased by me with my own funds. This post is not sponsored by any person or company. All reviews are my own opinions and thoughts of the products.**

Memorial Day Weekend Recap

Welcome back after a much needed, sun filled long weekend! I hope everyone enjoyed their holiday weekend and welcomed summer in with a bang! I had a pretty busy weekend of course. My relaxation day came on Monday when I finally got to lay out by my pool (I know, tough life right). As always, I documented my weekend with pictures to share with you. Enjoy!

Friday OOTN - Checkered
Headed out for a friend's birthday party

Shirt from Old Navy
Belt from GAP
Shorts from American Eagle
Gladiator Sandals from Jessica Simpson
Saturday OOTN - Yellow
Date night

Tank from Old Navy
Yellow Skinnies from American Eagle
Sandals from Guess
Hung around with the family and watched these crazy storm clouds roll in from the crazy heat we were having and enjoyed home made ribs.

After the storm passed, it was Tim's turn to pick the movie.

It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. The action made up for all the bad acting and stupid plot.
Sunday OOTD - Picnic
Stopped at a tournament at our old softball field and had drinks with friends that were in town.

Tank from Old Navy
Belt from GAP
Shorts from American Eagle
Flops from Havaianas
Monday OOTD - Picnic/Night Out

Top from Marshalls
Tank from A&F
Shorts from American Eagle
Necklace from Forever 21
Michael Kors Watch
Bangles from H&M
Fantasik from Steve Madden
I started my day out finally relaxing by my pool and letting my dogs get some exercise.

Dakota in his element
Me maxin and relaxin in my Fedora
I actually made it through the whole weekend without having to make ANYTHING! Shocking I know. Sorry guys, no new recipes to share for this holiday.

How did you celebrate Memorial Day Weekend?

There's a First for Everything

With the help of my lovely girlfriends, I tried my first pair of fake eyelashes last weekend! I figured, fake eyelashes for a wedding was a fantastic idea. Now I have to practice doing them myself because I'm addicted and want to wear them EVERYDAY! How did I not try this sooner?? I snapped a few pictures of what they looked like at the end of the night (still going strong).

I think they looked awesome and natural. I was super psyched.
Wanna know what I used on my eyes?
-Urban Decay Primer Potion in Sin
-Inner corner: Urban Decay Half Baked (from Naked 2 palette)
-Lid: LORAC Plum (from Bejeweled Amethyst palette) and Stila Barefoot (from Not So Nude palette)
-Cover Girl Perfect Point Plus in Black Onyx
-Maybelline Line Stiletto Liquid Liner in Blackest Black
-L'Oreal Extra Volume Collagen Mascara in Blackest

Have you tried a new beauty product that you've fallen in love with?

Weekend Recap (a little late): A Wedding in OBX

So I'm finally feeling better! I think I just needed rest which was what I did. After a long traveling weekend of running around and not sleeping as much as I should, it finally caught up with me. At least I wasn't sick for the wedding, that would have been bad.

Anywho, for those of you who don't know, I was in the Outer Banks last weekend to see two very dear friends of mine get hitched. It was quite a reunion weekend because we got to spend it with all our VA friends. We were in one big beach house and it was awesome. Our house was the "groomsmen" house since all of our men were in the wedding party. It was nice to spend so much time with our friends that we don't get to see as much since we moved to PA. Two of the couples have babies under a year, so I soaked up as much baby time with them as I could!

Here's what our "down" time looked like:

We took pictures of the babies
Wore mustaches and sunglasses
Tried a very unsuccessful first beach experience for baby Evelyn (bottom left corner)
The wedding was at the NC Aquarium on Roanoke Island. So was the rehearsal dinner. So while the groomsmen were rehearsing, we got to play in the aquarium!

Pet the stingrays
Checked out all of the big fish

After the rehearsal dinner, it was time for the big day. The ceremony was outside with the reception spread throughout the aquarium. How unique!

The ceremony and reception

The one and only VA crew (minus the bride and groom)
And that folks was an awesome wedding weekend none of us are going to forget. Good time, good friends, good fun.

How was your weekend??

Sniff, Sniff, Cough, Cough

I just wanted to post quick and let you know that I have not disappeared. I usually don't go more than 2 days with out posting, I know some of you get worried. I had a wonderful long weekend in OBX for a wedding. I got to see some friends that I haven't seen in a while, had some drinks, had some fun, you know. And probably from lack of sleep and being run down, I caught a cold that thankfully started Sunday after the wedding was over. Couple that with the 9 hour drive home and I'm still recovering. I have so much to tell you guys about the weekend and I literally cannot concentrate long enough for it. Cold meds do not equal awesome blog posts. So, I hope that tomorrow will be a better day and I will get a blog post out there for everyone to enjoy. Till then, I hope you all are doing better than me!

It's Ok Thursday

Its Ok Thursdays

I'm linking up with Amber and Neely for another It's Ok Thursday because it's my favorite link up and it's also been a while.

It's OK:

That I still haven't packed to leave for NC for a wedding

That I'm probably going to pack at least 3 dresses for the rehearsal dinner because I still haven't decided which one to wear

To just not be into the book I'm reading right now

To have completely slacked on my workout routine

To have trouble letting go of a good friend

To be grateful for season finales so I will now have time to catch up on shows I was behind on

To still have not watched the final 2 episodes of OTH, I'm in denial

To be in dire need of a bigger jewelry box because I keep buying accessories and have no wear to put them

To have no idea what to get Tim for his birthday next month

To really have the urge to do another giveaway soon

To almost ruin yet another pair of shoes because I'm a clutz

What's OK with you?

♥ Erin

I'm calling you out...

You guys know I don't usually do this. I maintain a very positive and happy atmosphere here at Everything According to Erin. I do that because drama in the blog world is...well let's face's dumb. Also, I never intended this blog to be about my rants and what irritates me. This blog is an extension of me, what I like, sometimes what I don't like (mostly in terms of products), what I do and what I want to do.

Recently, I've witnessed some things going on in the blog world that are down right irritating me. And to be honest, I've kept my mouth shut long enough. It's time to blow off some steam.

#1 - This has only happened to me once, but I know that it's happened to a bunch of other people. Don't promise what you can't deliver. I'm speaking in terms of giveaways. I won a giveaway from a blogger who shall remain nameless (even though I want to call her slimy butt out) earlier this year. I was supposed to win a scentsy candle which was sponsored by another blogger (which I received and loved) AND a really nice gift basket full of products I really wanted to try. I received the scentsy and NEVER received the gift basket. So I checked in with the blogger who was super apologetic and was apparently shocked I never received it. Long story short, we exchanged 3 emails back and forth with her giving me excuse after excuse. Finally I said, at this point please don't worry about it because it's obviously not going to happen. She never replied. I stopped following her on everything and that's been that.

I'm sorry, but that's ridiculous. You have a giveaway, you come through. Enough said. I know things happen out of your control, but if someone was supposed to receive something from me and I wasn't the one sending it (like if it was from a sponsor) you best be sure I'd do whatever I can to make it up to that person.

#2 - A few weeks ago, I posted about my issue with Photobucket changing their collage app so I asked for your help. A lot of you sent me some ideas and that was great thank you. I also reached out to other bloggers when I saw they were using collages on their sites. Wanna know how many got back to me? 2. I probably reached out to at least 10 other bloggers. I should have known because I've commented on their sites before and never got a response. I don't care how many followers you have, you're not too cool to respond to us smaller bloggers.

I follow blogs that have 3 followers all the way up to 10,000. I cannot believe how much people are ignored. Now I have to say that it's a small select few, but it's still very frustrating. I may only have 260 followers, but I'm proud of that and I respond to every one of them. I also get help from bloggers who have a crap ton of followers. It's just this select few that apparently only talk to certain people. Whatever, if you think I'm not cool enough then I'm sorry. I understand that if you have 86 comments on one blog post every day, it can get a little tiresome. But if someone asks you a direct question more than once, don't you think you should take the 30 seconds and answer them? That's just my opinion. And what really sucks is, I LOVE their blogs! And I don't want to stop reading them, but I get really irritated every time I want to comment! Let me just say this for the record. If you leave me a comment and I don't email you, it's because your comment shows up with That means people can't reply to your comments. I know a few of you who comment all the time have this. You should update your settings, I want to talk to you!!

#3 - All blogs are 6 degrees of separation. You find someones blog because of someone else, it's never ending. When someone new comments on my blog, the first thing I do is see if they have a blog. If they do, I check it out. If it interests me, I follow them. If I follow them, I leave them a comment so they know I'm a fan. In this "world", it can be a lot about self gratification. Sometimes though, it's just about making someone's day and letting them know you appreciate what they do. I'm not going to lie, I don't follow everyone who follows me. If I'm not going to take the time to read what you have to say, it's not worth wasting either of our time. I've followed and unfollowed a ton of blogs over the last couple of years. People that I read religiously 2 years ago may no longer post things that interest me anymore. It happens. Don't feel guilty. I'm all about giving people chances because people gave me chances. Your favorite blog may turn out to be the one that only has 8 followers and doesn't do giveaways every other week.

That's it folks! Thanks for listening to my little rant. I promise your regularly scheduled Everything According to Erin post will be posted in a couple of hours.

Weekend Recap & OOTN

My weekend was quick this week because I worked Friday night and all day Sunday. So I pretty much had Saturday to play, and play I did.

The weather here was gorgeous! So I spent most of my afternoon poolside with my sister, my dogs and a book.

If you follow me on Instagram, you saw all the action.

My view from the lounge chair
My sister wearing my obnoxious beach hat
3 out of 4 dogs fighting over a tennis ball

After some much needed Vitamin D, I got ready to celebrate my friend Nick's birthday. We went to an amazing restaurant in Plymouth Meeting called Redstone. We ate, we drank, we ended up in food comas.

My drink
My meal
Did you really think I wasn't going to show you what I wore?
Since I purchased a bunch of new spring and summer clothes, I will be doing a ton of OOTD/OOTN's. Don't you worry!

Mossimo top from Target
Apt. 9 heels from Kohl's
Necklace from Forever 21
Moss Clutch from Urban Expressions

I didn't post my wrist bling because it was the same as my last one, it's my go to stacks.

Even though I had a short weekend, I had a great time with great friends.

How was your weekend?

P.S. A quick shout out to the lovely Chelsea from Choose to be Happy who told me about a new awesome collage maker. You rock!! Thanks girl!

Shoes Are a Girls Best Friend

A few weeks ago I posted about ramping up my summer wardrobe, but I was in dire need of shoes as well. If you talk to Tim or my dad, they will say I have enough shoes. If you ask my mom, step mom or sister, they will all side with me. You can never have enough shoes. I can feel all of your heads nodding in agreement. So I started my summer off right by getting some great deals on some shoes at Kohl's. I love that store. I usually stick to buying shoes, housewares or clothes by Lauren Conrad or Rock and Republic from there and I never go wrong.

Apt. 9 Platform Dress Heels in Nude
Originally $59.99, on sale for $17.99 (steal of the day for real)
One of the more practical pairs I picked.

Apt. 9 Platform Dress Sandals in Floral
Originally $59.99, on sale for $35.99
I'm so excited about these because I can wear them with so much!

Jennifer Lopez Platform High Heels in Yellow
Originally $74.99, on sale for $44.97
These I can't wait to wear, plus they only had one left in my size and it had a slight scuff on it and they took another 10% off.
Now the only pair I had every intention of buying were these beauties...

Apt. 9 Peep-Toe Platform High Heels in Coral
Unfortunately, they didn't have them in store, but are available online for $34.97.

I also had a coupon and got ANOTHER 20% everything, my mother would have been so proud!

Now, I really only need want two more pairs to add for the summer. I haven't quite found them yet, but I can describe what I'm looking for. Hopefully, you guys can steer me in the right direction.

These three are from Jessica Simpson. I want a brown leather sandal with a heel, not a wedge. I just don't want to spend over $80 for them so I'm on the hunt for a cheaper version of these. Preferably all brown and not super thick stitching.

Next, I want a pair of black or brown slip on wedges. That don't look like they're for my grandmother. You definitely know what I mean.

These are by Lucky Brand
I like these, but the strap is too thick I think.
I don't want something like this...

No offense, they're just not my style.

So any ideas please throw my way. I've been to Marshall's, TJMaxx and DSW. I have yet to check Nordstrom's Rack, but if you see anything online let me know.

What shoes are on your summer wish list?

"Favorite of the Week" Link Up #27

Everything According to Erin

If you follow me on Instagram (@Heydtie042), you probably saw me post a gift I received last week from my wonderful mom. I know you're probably thinking it's around Mother's Day, should you be getting her a gift? Well you're right, and I did. My mom just rocks and bought me this because she loves me so much. LOL. She also knew I needed some cheering up. And what better way to cheer someone up than to buy them something from Michael Kors!

Michael Kors Parker Glitz Watch in Two Tone
Isn't she a beaut? I still have to get it sized and I haven't had a chance yet, but expect to see it in many OOTD posts coming up!

Thank you again to my mommy for getting me such an awesome gift!

What's your favorite of the week?

Easy Peasy Pepperoni Dip

I totally stole this recipe from my girlfriend Laura who makes this for most get togethers. Once I realized how easy it was, I've been making it every chance I get. It literally takes no time at all and is available in a low fat version as well (and still tastes awesome).

I forgot to take a picture so I got this one

1 package (8 oz) cream cheese
1 package (6 oz) pepperoni
1 can condensed cream of mushroom soup

Finely chop pepperoni in food processor. Combine all ingredients in big bowl and combine with hand mixer. Serve chilled or at room temperature with crackers or bread.

Low Fat Version:

1 package (8 oz) neufchatel cheese
1 package (6 oz) turkey pepperoni
1 can condensed  98% fat free cream of mushroom soup

I make the low fat version and it tastes awesome. You don't feel as guilty eating a ton of it either. Plus the turkey pepperoni is less greasy than regular pepperoni and is better for your dip.

Thanks for the great recipe Laura!

Stepping Out of My Fashion Element: Target Jumpsuit

Last week I tweeted this photo while I was at Target...

Lately, I've been stepping out of my comfort zone when it comes to fashion. Trying some new colors and styles that I normally would go for. While I was at Target, I saw this pantsuit and thought, "I might be able to pull that off". Well, I tried it on...I didn't purchase it only because I think I needed some time to think this one through. Not only that, but I wanted the opinions of my friends and of course my blog readers. So this is how it looked...

Picture it with some cute sandals or heels and a lot of accessories. Yay or nay? Don't worry about offending me, I'd rather you be honest. I appreciate everyone's opinions!

Have you taken a fashion risk you normally wouldn't have?

"Favorite of the Week" Link Up #26

Everything According to Erin

My favorite of the week this week is a must have for everyone, guys AND girls!
Not trying to brag but, I get complimented on my skin. However, I can't take all the credit. My parents have awesome skin, what can I say, I have good genes!

But sometimes, it doesn't matter how good your genes are...

Clean & Clear Advantage Acne Spot Treatment
 Zits, meet your worst enemy...
I can't believe I am new to using this product! It's amazing! I get a zit, I apply this stuff a couple times a day, and then I don't have a zit anymore! For reals!

I don't know what is in this product, but to me it's a miracle potion.
I usually only get a random zit or two on my face that can get out of control and this stuff gets rid of it fast. Ladies, especially in the summer, you know how you tend to break out a little around your bra straps because of the heat? Uh, yeah...this stuff gets rid of them too. Best part about it though? It smells good! I think it smells like guys cologne. No medicine smell here. Only con is it's about 8 bucks for a tiny tube, but it's totally worth it. Plus Allure magazine has named it one of the top beauty products for years. It's my little secret weapon.

What's your favorite of the week?

A Complete Waste of Makeup

Make sure you head on over to one of my fave bloggers today, Neely @ A Complete Waste of Makeup. She got a new bloggy design from the fabulous Jenn @ Munchkinland Designs (the designer who did my FOTW button) and Jenn is giving away and ELITE blog design package to one of Neely's readers! This is a $90 value people! But honestly, I don't want you to enter because I wanna win it! Ok, if you must...enter here!

It's that time of year again...Summer Movie Season Is Back!

Sorry for the lack of post yesterday folks. I got home from work on Wednesday with a really bad migraine. It was bad news bears. I just watched Revenge and went to bed. And trust me, it was painful to even do that.

Anyway, my favorite time of year for movies is upon us again and I must say I feel like the blockbuster movie season started earlier this year. It's probably because of The Hunger Games. The beginning of 2012 has already had some great movies come out.

I'm so excited for this summer's movies I can hardly contain myself. I will be racking up my Regal Rewards points like cray cray. So, here's my must see movie list of summer 2012.

May Releases

The Avengers
May 4
You guys know that I'm a comic book movie girl, thanks to the bf, and I am very excited to see the next installment of the Marvel series.

Dark Shadows
May 11
I have to admit that I didn't watch the original, but I'm always a fan of any Tim Burton/Johnny Depp combo.

Men In Black 3
May 25
I hope the third one doesn't disappoint, but I can't miss seeing the third installment of this series. Seeing Tommy Lee Jones in a comedic role is always fun.
June Releases

Snow White & the Huntsman
June 1
Very excited to see a darker version of this story since it's never been told. I hope Kristen Stewart acts better in this than she does in Twilight. Every preview I've seen though, she looks legit and almost reminds me of a young Madeleine Stowe. What do you think?
June 8
To be honest, I still don't know what this movie is actually about because the previews don't really tell you much. All I know is it's gotta be good since it's from the director of Alien. Can't go wrong with this one.

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter
June 22
I have been meaning to read this book and I've only heard good things. I hope to read the book before the movie comes out.
Magic Mike
June 29
Umm, Channing Tatum playing a stripper. Need I say more?
July Releases

The Amazing Spiderman
July 3
At first I was against this because I loved the original series, but after seeing the preview I was hooked. I think this one is going to blow Toby Maguire out of the water.
July 13
A teddy bear that comes to life and has the voice of Peter from Family Guy, sold.

The Dark Knight Rises
July 20
I'm probably the most excited to see this movie out of them all. The new Batman's have been my favorite out of all the comic book remakes and I'm super depressed that this is the last one. Christian Bale is by far the best Batman ever.
August Releases

The Bourne Legacy
August 3
Another movie I was totally against at first until I saw the trailer. Once I knew they weren't replacing Matt Damon, just telling another story I was ok. Plus, I love Jeremy Renner.
Total Recall
August 3
I never saw the original, but now I guess I'm going to have to. This is definitely one of those remakes that has to be good because the technology now is just so much more advanced than it was in the 90s.

What's your must see summer 2012 movie list?
