Shark Week 2011

I'm very excited for Discovery Channel's Shark Week 2011. It's something that I've watched every year since I was little. I also love that they used Lady Gaga's "Teeth" for this years promo. This year it's hosted by Andy Samberg and starts this Sunday, July 31st at 9 p.m. I looked at the schedule and it looks like it's going to be great. They're even airing a show called How Sharks Hunt featuring Dave and Cody from Dual Survival (so excited for that). I have to admit I was disappointed last year. The shows were so-so and I felt that the majority of the week aired old shows, there wasn't anything new. Now I know they mix new with old, but last year just wasn't right. It doesn't matter though because I keep coming back every year! I guess I'm going to have to put True Blood on hold next week!

Who else looks forward to this?

Reality TV Guilty Pleasures

I'm not a huge reality TV fan, I just never have been. There are a few select reality shows that I can actually stomach. Last week, a girlfriend of mine came over and she introduced me to Love in the Wild on NBC.

"It's an adventure-dating series that puts relationships to the ultimate test. 10 single men and 10 single women pair up in adventures that include paddling down crocodile-ridden waters, navigating through bat-infested caves and hanging 200 feet above the rain forest floor as they descend down one of the most majestic waterfalls in Costa Rica. These exploits will put their relationships to the test as they fall for each other in ways they never imagined. Sparks will fly and hearts will break.

After each adventure, the winning couple will share a night together at the "Oasis," a lavish, five-star bungalow overflowing with everything they could possibly desire for an intimate night of romance. The remaining couples will stay with their partners in the less luxurious "Cabins," where they will gather for a night of socializing.

During an elimination unlike anything seen before, all of the couples will come together to reveal whether a connection has been formed with their current partner -- or if they would like to switch and get to know someone else. At the end of every episode, two heartbroken singles will be sent home. The series will culminate with just one couple left standing, who will have completed the adventure of a lifetime and found the one thing they've been searching for."

It's like the Bachelor meets Survivor, even though I hate both of those shows. It's on Wednesday nights on NBC at 10 p.m.

During commercial breaks and leading up to the show we also watch:

It's on TLC, and they play it all the time! It's like watching a train wreck, you just can't look away! Trashy reality TV at it's best, such a fan.

The best news I got this week...Thanks to Dunkin' Donuts!

Thank you to my friend Christina at These are a few of Christina's favorite things... who first broke the news yesterday that Dunkin' Donuts will be introducing K Cups soon for purchase at their stores. I am so excited about this I can't even contain myself. I love my Keurig machine even though it's down in VA with Tim right now (thank goodness my parents have one). Anyway, if you know me, you know that ever since I bought my Keurig I have been saying that DD needs to come out with K Cups. I even wrote them an email about it! Well apparently other people did too!

Here's what their CEO, Nigel Travis, had to say on the Dunkin' Donuts blog. Apparently it was posted in February, how did I not know this until now?!

Dunkin' Donuts Announces Single-Serve K-Cups to be Sold in Participating Restaurants Starting Summer 2011

Are you guys as excited as I am?!

Recent Target Purchase...Romper

I was supposed to go to Target to get toiletries this weekend, and I walked out with a new article of clothing (of course). I finally bought a romper! Here is my future OOTD that I hope to wear at some point this weekend so I can show you next week.

Alright, what do you think? What would you keep, what would you change?

Great Baby Shower Gifts

I currently have a few friends that are pregnant and I'm always on the look out for great gifts for the mom-to-be. Sometimes I go with the registry because I know it's things they need/want, but sometimes I come across something that I know they'll really like even if it's not on their registry.

I was going through my email when I saw an ad for a new product by Philosophy just for babies. They now have a line that includes lotion, baby wash and diaper cream. I don't think it's ever too early to start your baby with great skin care products!

I got my girlfriend all three products for the baby and then included this...

This kit from Philosophy is just for the mom-to-be to pamper herself once the baby is here. I thought it was a good idea to add something to the gift that my friend could use to wind down when the baby is taking a nap or when it's daddy's turn to watch the baby! The set includes Purity Made Simple (face wash), Hope In A Jar (facial moisturizer), Pure Grace Foaming Bath and Shower Cream, and Pure Grace Body Lotion.

What are some baby shower presents you've given or received?

Staying Cool...

When I lived in VA, I was deprived of certain restaurants that had been staples throughout my entire life in PA. Certain places like Yocco's Hotdogs, any good cheesesteak place, Wawa and Rita's Italian Water Ice were greatly missed when I moved out of the area. Now that I'm back, I have been eating food that I haven't been able to have in years.

Rita's has THE best water ice and custards. I used to get Rita's once a week when I was in college (we also used to add alcohol to a tub of it, but I digress). Last week I heard an advertisement for a new flavor, cantaloupe, that I had to try. Their water ice is made with real fruit and has big fruit chunks in it as well, it's to die for.

Since this weather has been absolutely stifling, I couldn't take it anymore and ran down to our local Rita's. I picked up a few tubs for my parents and got myself a cantaloupe gelati. For those of you who don't know, it's water ice with custard (amazing). I think I devoured it in less than 5 minutes!

Between the water ice and my pool, I was cooling off just fine. Are you suffering from this terrible heat wave too? How are you staying cool right now?

Happy 1st Birthday Utley!

Most of you know last August Tim and I adopted Utley from a rescue in North Carolina. Well today she is 1! I can't believe she is a year and we've had her since she was 9 weeks old. She is such a special dog and I'm so glad we decided to go the adopting route. She gets along so well with our other dog, Dakota, and I truly believe she lengthens his life by being around.

I remember we looked at so many dogs and applied for a couple as well. We were getting so frustrated because we weren't being chosen or the pups were getting adopted so fast. Now I know it was because we were meant to have Utley in our lives. I've never owned a dog that didn't have a funny personality, but Utley really takes the cake. She has so many quirks that are unexplained since we had her at such a young age. I wouldn't trade her for anything though.

So happy birthday to my baby girl! Mommy loves you!

Read, Watch, Listen

My bloggie friend, Virginia Belle did a post like this and I totally stole borrowed it from her (it's ok, she stole borrowed it too). Every so often I like to shake things up a bit and try posts like this. So here it goes...

Read

I know I told you it took me a bit to get into the first book, but this is a series that I can't recommend enough! Especially now that they are coming out with the American movies for them. It's a little tough to get through all the Swedish lingo and geography, but it's well worth it. These books have kept me on my toes, it's such a shame that there won't be anymore to this series (the author has since passed away). I hope to finish the last book by the end of the weekend.

Watch

Duh. This is my summer staple for TV. This season is out of control (as always) and the creators never cease to amaze me. They have shocked us all and have strayed a bit from the book by killing of a character that is supposed to be around for quite some time. For me, it's something that doesn't bother me. If they stay too close to the book, the show then becomes predictable. That cannot happen! If you have not gotten in to this show, it's a must watch!

Listen

I love this song! It is my fave right now and I can't even tell you why. It just makes me want to bop around! Tim and my sister both mocked me for this song and I don't care. I highly recommend it to make you feel good. It's definitely a feel good song for me!

I hope you like my picks!

Bye Bye Borders

Borders announced they are officially going out of business. They were unable to secure a buyer for it's remaining stores. This really makes me sad, for some reason I always chose Borders over Barnes and Noble and now I'm not going to have a choice. Bummer! Anyway, for those of you who are lucky enough to still have a Borders store near you (a bunch of them closed), the liquidation sales are starting this Friday! I have a couple gift cards I'm going to need to burn through, that's the only reason I'm excited. So if you have a Borders gift card, you better use it soon!

Here are some of the items I'll spend my gift cards on:

The Passage - Justin Cronin

James Patterson - The Gift

The Harry Potter Collection

The Hunger Games Collection

What do you guys recommend to read this summer?

Movie Review: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2

Amazing, thrilling, an end of an era! HAHA! You guys didn't think I was really going to write out a full review for this were you? If you're a fan of HP, I'm sure you've seen it or know a billion people who have. If you're not a fan, I'm sure you're super annoyed by all of it.

So I'll leave it at this...I laughed, I cried, I didn't want it to end. If you've seen it, let me know what you think.

New Tarte for True Blood

I'm so happy the newest season of True Blood is in full swing, I'm enjoying every minute of it. I was excited to see in my email the other day this advertisement from Ulta about the new True Blood inspired makeup by Tarte. They've released a small collection: a palette, cheek stain and lip tint. Now I'm not really interested in the cheek stain or the lip tint because I just don't really do reds. However, I'm really digging the palette. Check out the items below and let me know what you think!

Limited Edition Palette $52 - Comes with 17 eye shadows, full-size emphasEYES Aqua-Gel Eyeliner in black, deluxe Lights, Cameras, Lashes! clinically-proven mascara and deluxe Lifted Eye Primer with Firmitol

Limited Edition Natural Cheek Stain $30

Limited Edition Natural Lip Tint $24

You can also buy the whole collection together for $106. What do you guys think about it? Anyone thinking about purchasing it? Personally, I think the palette is a great buy and I would love to try it.

Movie Review: Transformers: Dark of the Moon

I was very excited to see this movie for a few reasons. I had absolutely loved the first one, but was totally disappointed with the second one. I was also curious to see how they were going to handle the departing of Megan Fox.

All in all I was very impressed with the 3rd installment. I even saw it in 3D which was a first for me. I've been hesitant to go to 3D or IMAX movies because of how susceptible I am to migraines. Fortunately, I had a pretty good experience for this movie so I'd definitely do it again. I don't really care about all the extra bells and whistles though. I just prefer to see a movie with great sound and a huge screen. Being back in PA, I miss the accessibility I had to a ton of brand new theaters that I had in VA.

Anyway, I'm not quite sure if this was definitely the last movie in the series. It was definitely made that way, but nowadays you never know. The effects were great and so was the story. It was also neat to see all the scenes they filmed in DC. They briefly mentioned the fact that Megan Fox's character was no longer there by saying things like, "she left me or she moved on". They didn't dwell on it which was fine, to be honest I was surprised they even brought it up. I just didn't agree that they needed to replace her with a VS model. I mean yeah I get it, the point is to sell movie tickets. I just thought there are plenty other good looking actresses out there that could have played that part. I mean at some parts in the movie it just wasn't believable that Shia's character would land a girl like that...but whatever. Other than that, I loved it. I can't wait to get it on DVD. Did any of you guys see it? What were some of your thoughts?

Goodbye Netflix!

If I had photoshop on this computer I would have made a better picture, but unfortunately I am minus a laptop currently and I'm borrowing my sisters. Anyway, I am not happy with Netflix. I got an email that said the following:

Dear Erin,

We are separating unlimited DVDs by mail and unlimited streaming into two separate plans to better reflect the costs of each. Now our members have a choice: a streaming only plan, a DVD only plan, or both.

Your current $9.99 a month membership for unlimited streaming and unlimited DVDs will be split into 2 distinct plans:

Plan 1: Unlimited Streaming (no DVDs) for $7.99 a month
Plan 2: Unlimited DVDs, 1 out at-a-time (no streaming) for $7.99 a month

Your price for getting both of these plans will be $15.98 a month ($7.99 + $7.99). You don't need to do anything to continue your memberships for both unlimited streaming and unlimited DVDs.

These prices will start for charges on or after September 1, 2011.

You can easily change or cancel your unlimited streaming plan, unlimited DVD plan, or both, by going to the Plan Change page in Your Account.

We realize you have many choices for home entertainment, and we thank you for your business. As always, if you have questions, please feel free to call us at 1-888-357-1516.

–The Netflix Team

Later Netflix, you'll be getting my cancellation notice shortly. Does anyone else think this is ridiculous? I'm thoroughly irritated.

Where I've Been...

I certainly hope you've noticed my absence and believe me I really needed a break. I've had some pretty big changes in my life happen and I needed to concentrate on them. Sorry for abandoning you guys for some time, but I am back now and ready to go.

I don't really want to get into a lot of details because it's all very personal and I just don't feel the need to share everything. Basically, in the last month I have picked up and moved from VA to PA. I have started a new job and I'm very happy about my return to the Philly area. It's really great to be back with my friends and family.

I enjoyed the time I spent in VA and I will miss the friends I made there dearly. I know that these are connections I have made for life and I can't wait to see you guys soon (aka this upcoming weekend).

I missed you guys and I'm glad to be back!
