New AMC Drama: The Killing

I saw an advertisement last night for this new show on AMC called The Killing. I was immediately drawn into it after watching the preview! It looks sooooo good. I'm sure it's going to be a hit because AMC already has great shows like Mad Men and The Walking Dead. Has anyone seen a trailer for this? If you haven't, here's the full 4 minute trailer from the official website.

I totally watching this! It has some really great actors in it like Billy Campbell (Once & Again) and Michelle Forbes (True Blood). The story is is based on the Danish television series Forbrydelsen and tells the story of the murder of a young girl in Seattle and the subsequent police investigation.

The Killing ties together three distinct stories around a single murder including the detectives assigned to the case, the victim's grieving family, and the suspects. Set in Seattle, the story also explores local politics as it follows politicians connected to the case. As the series unfolds, it becomes clear that there are no accidents; everyone has a secret, and while the characters think they've moved on, their past isn't done with them.

Season one will consist of thirteen one-hour episodes and will debut with a 2 hour premiere on Sun., Apr. 3 at 9PM. I have already set my DVR! Make sure you go to the official website to read more about the show and watch some sneak peeks!

Speaking of The Walking Dead, I heard this was an awesome show and I've been meaning to put it on my Netflix queue. Has anyone seen this? Is it really that good?

It's 2011 Opening Day

Yesssss! It is my favorite time of year! Baseball season starts today and I'm so excited. For those of you who are new to the blog, I am a die hard Phillies fan. Tim and I are both from Philly living in a DC area sports region (and trying to adjust). Another fun fact is that I am obsessed with second baseman Chase Utley (I call him my boyfriend), and yes that is how my dog Utley got her name. So periodically throughout the next 6-7 months you will see posts of us going to games up in Philly and here in DC. The Phils will be in town to play the Nationals April 12-14 and you know I'll be there for at least one of those games.

Is anybody else excited for the season? What's your favorite team?

Express Semi-Annual Clearance Sale

I got an email that Express started their semi-annual clearance sale this weekend. I was so excited because I was holding out for this awesome cardigan my cousin wore over Christmas. I didn't want to pay full price for it, but if it didn't go on sale I'm sure I would have bought it anyway. I ordered it yesterday and I can't wait to get it (yes I'm still using Christmas gift cards). I'm totally stealing the look from my cousin, but I'm sure she's fine with it.

Short-Sleeve Flyaway Cardigan in Silver Gray (originally $49.90, now $29.99)

I'm going to pair it with:
Rosettes Scoop Neck Tank in Silver Gray (Originally $34.90, now $19.90)

Zelda Legging in Rinse Wash

Express has a wide variety of stuff on sale right now and you can shop clearance online or in the store.

Thanks to my always wonderfully dressed cousin, Lauren, for giving me this outfit inspiration.

Wedding Hair

In two weeks Tim and I are in his sister's wedding and I still haven't decided what I want to do with my hair. I don't think I want a full up do since my hair is so long. It would be a shame to hide it all up on my head, but I did find a couple that I liked. The other thing to consider while choosing this is that I will be getting my hair done in the morning. I will need my hairstyle to stay all day. Sometimes my hair keeps a curl and sometimes it doesn't. We'll see which one shows up on the big day. So here are a few styles I found, let me know what you guys think!

If you guys have any suggestions or websites that I can look at, let me know! I was really disappointed with what I saw online. Especially when I was looking for celeb wedding hairstyles, not much to choose from.

Currently Obsessed with...Daisy by Marc Jacobs

Yet another reason why I need to stop going to places like Ulta and Sephora. When I was there last, I received a free sample of Marc Jacobs fragrance Daisy. I had been meaning to look into it because my perfume collection is getting low. I've been looking for something that's fresh and springy. Well I found it! One whiff of this scent and I was in love. I can't wait to get it.

The Eau de Toilette spray is available in 1.7 and 3.4 oz for $60 & $75. They also have the Eau de Parfum spray (black bottle) in 1.7 oz for $72. They say the parfum is more concentrated then the toilette, but I'm going to have to smell the difference in person. I don't need it to be too strong on me and stink up a room!

Has anyone tried this scent? What do you think? What are some of your spring/summer perfume selections?

Product Review: Addicted to...Redken Refining Sea Polish

Redken recently came out with a new line of hair care products called Nature's Rescue. Last time I got my hair cut, my hair dresser gave me some samples to see if I liked it. I tried the Refreshing Detox Shampoo, Cooling Deep Conditioner and the Refining Sea Polish. I wasn't really a fan of the shampoo/conditioner, but I absolutely fell in love with the Sea Polish! My hairdresser described as an exfoliant for your scalp. Boy was she right!

It's like a rough paste that you apply to your scalp after shampooing. Not only does it help a dry scalp, but it removes buildup as well. I don't know about you guys, but my scalp is terrible in the winter. It can always use something to revitalize it during those cold winter months when your hair is just getting brutalized by the elements. They recommend to use this product a couple times a week, but I use it once a week (unless I've used a ton of product in my hair) and it does the trick! Now it's a little pricey ($19 for a 3.4 oz bottle), but it's about the same price as any Redken product. You don't need all that much to work with so I'm sure this little bottle will last you for a decent amount of time.

"Free of parabens, sulfates and silicones, Redken Nature's Rescue Line relies on the ocean's plant and marine extracts to deeply cleanse hair and restore its moisture while smoothing the cuticle. The line is based on a proprietary Sea Algea HydraComplex that contains sea algae and soy protein to protect and replenish hair, as well as, aloe vera to moisturize. The fragrance is reminiscent of an ocean breeze."

Bottom line, this is a great all natural product for your hair. Like I said earlier, the shampoo and conditioner didn't impress me. There wasn't anything that really stood out about it. I already use Redken products on my hair and I'm content with what I've got.

The only product in this line that I haven't tried is the Radiant Sea Spray which is a lightweight, multi-functional spray that has time-touch fragrance capsules which release bursts oceanic scent when hair is touched. I smelled the product at Ulta, but I haven't tried it. I feel like it would be the perfect spray for the summer time. I just don't know what its purpose is other than to make your hair smell like the beach. It's $17 at Ulta, and I'm not sure I can justify that purchase right now. Has anyone tried any of these products? What are some of your thoughts?

Note: I did a little searching online and you can find these products cheaper at places like Amazon and online cosmetic stores.

**This product was purchased by me with my own funds. This post is not sponsored by any person or company. All reviews are my own opinions and thoughts of the products.**

New Nail Polish Buy: OPI Lites to Darks Mini Pack

Last weekend when I was at Ulta searching the store for my current giveaway, I had to just buy somethings for myself! I came across this need little package from OPI. I love that they are a great mix of colors that I can use for all seasons. Plus I am a huge fan of the mini bottles because I have so many polishes that I never use a whole bottle. I always end up throwing it out after it gets old, such a waste!

The colors included are Sweet Heart, Princesses Rule!, Meet Me on the Star Ferry and Lincoln Park After Dark. Now I have been searching high and low for Lincoln Park After Dark, I'm so glad I got it! When I was picking out my free Zoya polish I was trying to get a color close to it. It's so dark, but you can't tell if it's a dark red or purple. It depends on what kind of light your in. I'll be trying out the two light pinks once it gets a little warmer and I'll definitely show you guys how they look. I'm planning on trying Meet Me on the Star Ferry with another product I bought at Ulta, OPI Crackle (which is also in the giveaway). I want to try it on my toes and see how it looks, keep an eye out for that review next week! I'm currently wearing Lincoln Park After Dark, it's my last chance at wearing a dark color before it gets warm. Here's how it looks!

Do you guys have any of these colors? What do you think of them?

Movie Review: Battle: Los Angeles

Last week Tim and I had a date night. We went out to a nice dinner and caught a flick. We both really wanted to The Adjustment Bureau, but it was playing too late. I "settled" for Battle: Los Angeles which is what Tim REALLY wanted to see. I guess this makes up for all the times I made him go see all the chick flicks!

Effects and action wise...it was awesome. I was never bored, there was always something going on. The acting was a little on the "cheesy" side, but what do you expect from an action film? The only part that really bothered me was that most of it was shot from a hand held camera (like Blair Witch Project) so 10 minutes into it I already had a headache. You need to sit in the last row for this one folks, trust me!

Bottom line...ladies, it's a tolerable movie to sit through with your guys. If you drag your significant other to sappy movies like I do, this definitely makes up for it. Don't get me wrong, I love action movies. I just needed a little more plot with this one. I hope to go see The Adjustment Bureau soon, I love me some Matt Damon.

Wanna hear Britney's new album Femme Fatale a week early?

In case you didn't see my tweet yesterday on Twitter, you can listen to Britney's new album Femme Fatale in its entirety on AOL Radio courtesy of Spinner. I listened to it ALL day yesterday while I was working. I am completely in love with it! I can't wait to purchase it next Tuesday, March 29th when it is officially released. It's a purely dance album, not one ballad on there which actually surprised me. I can listen to it straight through, which I did again and again and again. Some of my faves (besides "Hold It Against Me" and "Till the World Ends") are "Inside Out", "Big Fat Bass" (feat. will.i.am), "Trip to Your Heart" and "Criminal". You can check out Brit's full album here. While you're on that page you can also listen to new albums from Jennifer Hudson, Chris Brown and The Strokes. What are some of your faves from Femme Fatale?

ELLE Contemporary Collection at Kohl's

Last week I ran into Kohl's to look for a new travel coffee mug. Of course I went exploring and I saw that ELLE has a new line exclusively for Kohl's. There were a few things that caught my eye, but I saw one item that I had to have.
ELLE Yalena Platform High Heels

I've been wanting a pair of nude heels for a while, but I couldn't find a pair that were reasonably priced and of good quality. These were originally priced at $60 and were on sale for $40 and I just couldn't pass them up.

I wore them last week at work to break them in. I got a lot of compliments on them and the best part was they really weren't all that uncomfortable. I'm still getting used to the height, and I was told I walked a little funny until I got used to them. Most of my higher heels are boots or booties so I have more support. Unfortunately most heels right now are the platform heel, so I have to get used to it some time. I need a new pair of black heels and I want to add a pair of grey ones as well. Here are a couple that I've been eying up.
Steve Madden Miami Leather Pump @ DSW

Mossimo Peri Platform Pumps @ Target

What do you guys think?

Happy First Day of Spring Giveaway!

Since yesterday was officially the first day of spring and the end of this long winter, I thought what better way to celebrate it than to host a giveaway! I know it took me a little further into March than I had intended, but better late than never. I'm trying to keep to my word about having a giveaway once a month. During my last giveaway, my goal was to get 50 followers which I totally surpassed thanks to all of you. So this time my goal is to get to 100 followers!

This weekend I was at Ulta to get a few things for myself and as I was looking around I saw tons of stuff that I thought all of my readers would love to get for free. After about an hour of picking things up and putting them back down, I decided on a few things to help everyone get ready for spring. Are you guys ready for what I picked out for you?

The Smashbox Try It Kit

OPI Lil Shooters, perfect for all the summer holidays

OPI Crackle
After months of waiting for this to not be sold out at Ulta, I finally had some luck. They must have had a big shipment of them because they were stocked. I ended up getting one for you guys and one for me as well. Definitely look for a review later thing week!

Current Outfit Faves - H&M and Target

Recently I've been in love with two things in my wardrobe: leggings and Steve Madden Intyce boots. So I've been trying to pair as much as I can with both of these things and I think I've been pretty successful. Lately I've been all about style, but comfort has been really important to me as well. Below are my two favorite outfits broken down for you.

Cardigan from H&M
Mossimo v neck boyfriend tee from Target
Leggings from H&M
Intyce boots from Steve Madden

Close up of tee and cardigan

Close up of tee

I bought two of these tees at Target, coral and white. I absolutely fell in love with them. They are over sized and work perfectly for leggings. They look odd if you wear them with out something over them though. I believe Tim said to me, "are you wearing one of my shirts?" So be careful about that. They are only $10 a piece and they have TONS of other colors.

Cardigan from H&M
Dress from H&M
Belt from H&M
Intyce boots from Steve Madden

Close up of cardigan, dress and belt

What I love most is that I can wear the outfit with or without the cardigan

And here's a close up of just the dress

I also love to wear the leggings and white v neck tee with:

What are some of your outfit faves?
