New Product

The other night Tim and I saw this new product advertised on TV, it's the Filtrete Water Station. In our house currently we use a Brita water pitcher for water we drink in the house and we spend about $5/month buying a case at Sam's Club so we can take water on the go. This would be perfect for us and we can cut out the extra expense which is great.

The water station lists for $42.99, but I saw it on Walmart.com for $37.99. It comes with all 4 bottles, the docking station and the fast flow filter. 3M claims the filter works 2 and a half times faster than your average filter pitcher and it has the potential to keep 3,000 water bottles out of landfills. How about that for going green?

Now, I have not seen this in stores yet and everywhere I look online it is unavailable. If you guys find it somewhere let me know! If you want more information on the product click here.

Weekend Recap

I hope everyone had a fantastic last weekend in August. Let me tell you, mine didn't start out very well but I made the best of it.

On my way home from work on Friday at exactly 4:40 pm (and exactly 1 mile from my house) I got into an accident. I was stopped at a red light and the guy behind me didn't see that traffic from the light was backed up pretty far. I heard screeching tires behind me so I looked in the rear view mirror and saw this SUV racing toward me. So I prepared myself and put my foot on the brake so I didn't hit the car in front of me. The sound I heard when the other car hit me was deafening, I could have sworn that I had no back end to my car. So I called 911 immediately and got out of the car to inspect the damage. See for yourself...

This is what the car looked like that hit me. You can imagine my anxiety when I saw that car.

And this is what Big Red looked like.

Yep, that's it. I drive a friggin' tank! The guy who hit me said he was doing about 50 before he slammed on his brakes. Tim said when I got home that I'm not allowed to own small cars from now on. That I need to have big cars that protect me. I mean I got his by a car the same size or a little bigger than mine!

After shooing everyone off of me and telling me to go to the doctor, I proceeded to sleep terribly and have a constant headache from Friday until Monday. So on Monday (since I work at a hospital) I finally went to the doctor. I had x-rays done and everything. They told me my back looks good, but I have swollen muscles. So I got sent home from work and filled 3 prescriptions that included some good muscle relaxers since my muscles were causing my terrible headaches. So now I'm home relaxing in bed telling you all about this. I have to take it easy this week at work and go see a specialist in a few days. I get my car fixed after Labor Day and already have the rental all set to go. The guy's insurance is covering everything for me thank goodness.

So back to my weekend...Friday night we just relaxed and caught up on some Lost season 2 which was wonderful.

Saturday I got to see my Mommy who was in town for work. We went out to dinner in Adams Morgan in DC. If anyone lives in the area or ever visits you have to go to Adams Morgan. We ate at this wonderful Italian restaurant called Cafe Paradiso. It was superb! Tim and I had calamari and seafood ravioli for our entrees. I knew I should have taken a picture of it, but I was kinda out of it this weekend guys sorry. I didn't even take a picture with Mom! I was so excited to see her because she recently lost 32 lbs. on Weight Watchers and looks fantastic. Tim and I couldn't believe it. She's the skinniest she's been since I can remember and it's just amazing. I'm so proud of her. She and my step dad will be visiting in 2 weekends so I'll be sure to take plenty of pics then.

Earlier in the week Tim and I had planned on taking Dakota to Shenandoah National Park for the day because someone had recommended to me a great spot that had all these waterfalls you could slide down. So Sunday morning Tim, our neighbor Jenny and I (along with Dakota of course) headed out to Whiteoak Canyon Falls. We had a great time. The water was very cold and we couldn't get to the really big pools and waterfalls with the dog (it was too treacherous for him) so we found a small pool for him to swim in and did some light hiking. It is a great place, I can't wait to go back when I'm feeling better. Here are some pictures from the day:

I hope everyone is enjoying their last few days of summer!

New iPhone App

Yesterday Netflix rolled out their new iPad app which is compatible for the iPhone and iPod touch as well. I installed this morning and I couldn't be more excited. When Tim and I purchased a PS3 a couple months ago one of my conditions was that were going to utilize our online streaming account through Netflix. Turns out we watch more through streaming than we do by receiving the DVD's in the mail. It's an excellent feature and it's included in our $8.99/month fee for Netflix. Now with the new app I can stream my online queue anywhere: at the gym, at work, even in the car. If you have Netflix and an iPhone/iPad/iPod touch this is definitely something to get. The app is free to download, you only pay your monthly membership fee.

Yesterday my auction ended and I ended up relisting the purse because I didn't get what I wanted for it. I lowered the reserve price and the Buy It Now and I have another 7 days in a new auction. I know some of you were interested, but couldn't pay what I wanted for it. If you know anybody that would like this please pass on the info. You can click here to view the auction and contact me at erinsworld09@gmail.com for anymore information.

So ladies, if you or someone you know would like to own this awesome and gorgeous bag please go to the auction. Give & Get for Gap, Banana & Old Navy

Give and Get is Here!: "Enjoy 30% off from August 26-29 at Gap, Banana Republic and Old Navy and we'll donate 5% of what you spend to a non-profit."

I got this great email today to save 30% this weekend at 3 of my fave stores! This will be perfect since last week I bought a $50 Gap gift card for $25 through Groupon (click the link to get a referral from me). I need to make an Old Navy run as well, so the great thing about the coupon is you can use it multiple times at all the stores. Plus it's also valid at the outlet stores! So click on the link to start saving this weekend. If you want the code to shop online you'll have to send me an email so I can forward it to you. For some reason the link only gives you the in-store bar code. You can email me at erinsworld09@gmail.com. Happy fall shopping everyone! By the way, the non-profit I picked was the World Wildlife Fund. Gotta save the animals.

Weekend Recap

Yes I know it's Friday...

From last Thursday until Saturday, my time was spent in PA. Thursday night was spent with my good friend Nikki at Citizen Bank Park watching the Phils take on the Dodgers. I only took one picture with my phone, I was just not in the picture taking mood. Sorry guys. This is the view from our seats...

We had a blast. The Phils came back to win 10-9 after being down 9-2. I was so glad we didn't leave like everyone else did. Afterwards we headed over to the team store to buy a couple things. I had been looking for this shirt everywhere...

It's only available at the ballpark, I haven't been able to find it on the team site or anywhere else. It's super cute and it's so me don't you think?

Friday was spent doing family stuff. My sister and I went out to lunch with my Dad which was nice. I love stopping in his work to see people I've known almost my whole life. My Dad has worked there since before I was born. Anyway, since my step mom was sick I took my sister to the Dublin carnival. For some reason I thought it would be fun to go on rides...bad idea. Those rides are scary and unsafe! I was trying to tell my sister (she's 12) that when she gets to be my age she won't be as fearless and she'll hold more value for her life. When I was younger I loved carnivals. Now, they just scare me. I was actually sore the next day from being tossed around so much. At one point my sister told me that I was making her nervous. Anyway this is her on one of the rides of death (she's fearless). I kept making excuses not to go on rides because I had my purse and could not be thrown upside down. Here's a picture of her in one of the death traps that she went on twice.
I will tell you that I did enjoy the carnival food. I was really excited to have funnel cake.

And finally on Saturday I got to see Tim's sister Grace and my nephew Tyler! He's so big and smiley! I got to hang with them for a few hours which was nice. Here's a picture of him playing on the floor. He's my little munchkin!

Sorry I was slacking this week. I haven't had anything to report. I've been good and haven't shopped, but I've been bad and haven't cooked that much either. Hopefully I'll have more to post next week. This weekend Tim is away for work so it's just me and the dog. I'm going to clean, and maybe do a little (very tiny) shopping. My girlfiend Anylise is coming to visit on Saturday because she's in town for a conference so that will be nice. Other than that I plan on soaking up as much sun as I can in these last few summer weekends. Enjoy your weekend guys!

TV/Movie News

It's only Wednesday and I am already overwhelmed by my TV/Movie news for the week. To start things off, True Blood on Sunday was amazing as always. There are only 3 episodes left and I can't believe the season is almost over! They only go 12 episodes unlike cable shows that can get in the 20's per season. Check out September's issue of Rolling Stone...
...whoa! That is a hot cover. Alexander Skarsgard is one of my favorite characters (fanning myself). Sam Trammell doesn't really do anything for me, but if you're a True Blood fan you have like this picture. It totally encompasses everything this show is about. I can't wait until next Sunday!

Next, all you Harry Potter fans get ready for a sneak peek. Warner Brothers released 20 production stills from The Deathly HallowsPart 1 due out November 19th. Here are a couple of the pictures, but you can click here to see all 20. There are some good ones, but I can't wait for another trailer to release! Enjoy! And finally, my fave show OTH got some real baby news today. E!online is reporting that Bethany Joy Galeotti (AKA Haley) is apparantly pregnant. Her character does become pregnant this season so that will be easy! However, the bad news is Bethany might leave the show at it's mid way point this season. The show has only been picked up for 12 episodes, I'd be shocked if it didn't get more after that because the show always does. I was pretty sure this was going to be it's last season which is fine with me. I'll miss it, but it's just not the same with out Chad Michael Murray and Hilarie Burton...8 years is a good run. If you want to read the full article click here.

Happy 28th Birthday Anylise!

Today is my best friend Anylise's birthday. I have 3 best friends that I've had from high school. We've gone through so much together and I'm so glad to have them in my life. All four of us were born in the same year. Anylise is the third to turn 28, I'm the baby being born in December. Erin is the oldest (yes one of my bff's is named Erin too) born in April and Kristen is in May. Luckily I will be up in PA this weekend to be able to celebrate with her.

I'm leaving this morning to go up to PA because I have Phillies tickets to tonight's game. So I will talk to you guys next week with pictures from the weekend and some other things I have planned for you guys. Sorry for being a little MIA these last two weeks. I promise I'll catch you up next week. Have a great weekend!

New Jimmy Eat World Single

Wow, the plethora of new music coming out lately is ridiculous. Last week it was Linkin Park, this week it's another one of my favorite bands Jimmy Eat World. Tuesday they released the first single "My Best Theory" from their new album Invented which will release September 28th. I have been a fan of Jimmy Eat World for years mostly because a lot of their music is featured on my favorite show One Tree Hill. Funny thing is it wasn't their mainstream songs that got me hooked. Most of their albums have more of an Indie sound to them whereas in the past their released singles have had a Pop sound to them as well as Alternative. However, this new single sounds more like them. I'm very excited for their new album.

Hairstyle Inspiration

I am finally going to get my haircut today! I have been growing my hair out for a while and I am in desperate need of a trim (don't worry I'm not cutting it off). My hair is the longest it's ever been! I'm so happy it was healthy enough to grow it this long, but unfortunately I'm going to need to cut a few inches off to get rid of the dead ends. I'll probably have my hairdresser shorten my existing layers and add some new ones for some body. I love that I can do so much with it now like beach waves and side braids. Here are a few of my celebrity hairstyle inspirations that I hope to be able to do after my trim today!

Living Dead In Dallas Review

I am really becoming a fan of these books. This is my second book in the series and I am addicted, just like I am to the show. This second book was pretty different from the second season on HBO. The first book was pretty dead on (no pun intended) to the corresponding season which was nice, but I like the change of pace. It would be boring if the books were exactly like the series. There's no creativity in that! Now that I'm seeing the differences though, I am amazed at how they came up with some of the story lines they did. It's crazy to think of the changes they made and the different character developments they have in the series. If you are a True Blood fan I have to recommend the books to you. The books hold more details to certain characters and events which helps answer some lingering questions you may have after a season is over.

I have decided because of a recommendation from a friend that since I am right smack in the middle of season 3 of True Blood that I should take a break from the books until this season is over and then pick it back up again once it's done. The books are easy to read and hard to put down once I find time to start them.

Now my only problem is which book do I start next? Do I start the Harry Potter books or try and blow through the few remaining books left on my summer reading list? Just to get through them I'll probably try to finish what I have left. I also keep adding books to my list by the week. Every time I get a Borders email I find myself adding to my wish list. Will I ever get to read them all? Do you guys feel the same? It's never ending!

My New Part Time Job!

This was one of the things I was waiting on to tell you guys last week. I took a part time job as a freelance writer for Examiner.com (DC Edition). There are different editions for every major city. I am located in the DC Edition, but my title is Loudoun County Fresh Foods Examiner. So basically I write about food events, recipes, new restaurants, etc. It will all be localized to Loudoun County, but I think if you're a fan of my blog you will be a fan of my column. I'm going to try and write about 3 articles a week and see how that goes to start. When you get a chance please visit and subscribe to it. I get paid very little for it, but it's mostly based off of internet "hits" and subscriptions. Hopefully it will also give me some good exposure for my blog and it's a really great resume builder as well.

Thank you to my friends and family that have supported me with this and have given me great feedback so far.

Linkin Park Single Release Today

Today is the release of Linkin Park's new single "The Catalyst" off of their upcoming album, A Thousand Suns. They played this song all day on the radio yesterday. After I heard it once I knew I was in love. It is very much up LP's alley with a heavy electronic beat and great melodies. I have always been a huge fan of LP and I have every one of their CD's. The last time they release an album was in 2007 with Minutes to Midnight, so this album is very much anticipated. The single officially releases today on iTunes so head over there and buy it, you won't be disappointed! A Thousand Suns is scheduled to release September 14th, I'll be counting down the days!

Phillies Gear Wish List

When I was visiting in PA the other weekend, my sister and I had to run to the mall for a few things. I dragged her into Dick's Sporting Goods so I could check out all the Philadelphia sports teams gear. Obviously living in VA all I see is Redskin, Capitals, Nationals stuff which I obviously don't care for. I ended up getting this sweet gray Roy Halladay tee. All of my Phils clothes consist of everything Utley (my favorite player) so I was looking to get something new. Everything is also red so when I saw this gray shirt I thought it would really stand out; I was right. I saw only one other person that had my same color shirt at the game this weekend. It was a good choice. I always by my t-shirt in kid sizes so I got an XL kids and it fits perfectly after it's original wash. I also got a few compliments on it while I was at the game which made me feel good. Tim said this was a compliment to the person wearing the shirt not actually the shirt itself. Either way, I'll take the compliments.

So there are a few things off the Phillies website I have been wanting for a while. I need to just suck it up and order them because I'm not sure they'll still be around to put on my birthday list in December. Before baseball season started this year I posted about Victoria's Secret PINK having their own MLB line which was awesome. There were two things from that line that I talked about, one of which I changed my mind on and the other I still want desperately. Here are the two things on my wish list:
I love this sweatshirt! It's going to be great for the fall. I don't currently have a red sweatshirt so this would be a great addition.

This is a new shirt they came out with. I originally wanted a gray one that they had, but I like this one a lot better. The problem with this shirt is that it's very popular and it's $32.50. You can get a better made team shirt cheaper than that. I also saw atleast 5 girls wearing it at the game.

The next shirt on my wish list I can not find a picture of! I saw it while we were at the game at Citizen Bank Park in Philly with our friends from Toronto. It was in their team store and I haven't seen it anywhere else or even on the website. It says "Philly girls, making Philadelphia beautiful since 1883". I'm thankfully going to a game up there in a couple weeks, I hope they still have it or I'm going to be very bummed.

Weekend Recap

This weekend Tim's family came down for a visit. For Father's Day Tim bought tickets to the Philles vs. Nationals game here in DC for his Dad (and fam). They haven't been here to visit in a while so it was nice have people come to us for once and get to see the Phils all in one weekend.

They arrived Saturday afternoon, so I had made a couple appetizers for them when they got here because I knew they would be hungry. I made the cucumber appetizer that I posted about earlier this week and since I still had cucumbers left over I made my favorite veggie dip that's super easy.

My favorite veggie dip is Hidden Valley Ranch dip. It is very tasty and takes only minutes to make. All you have to add is a 16 oz. container of sour cream, mix and it's ready to enjoy!

After lunch we got ready to head on out to the ball game. Even though the Phils lost miserably, it was still nice to catch a game. We had beautiful spring like weather all weekend. There was hardly any humidity all weekend with a very comfortable breeze. It was clutch weather to watch a game in. Below are some of the pics from the game. I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend as well!
