New Twilight Book

It was announced yesterday that Stephenie Meyer will be releasing a Novella titled, "The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner". If you recall, Bree was the only surviving newborn vampire left after the fight and was eventually killed by the Volturi for her involvement. The book was originally supposed to be included in Twilight's Official Guide, but was considered too long and is now being released on its own. Why write a book about such an insignificant character you ask? The reason behind it was help the screen writer, Melissa Rosenberg, better understand what Victoria was actually doing in Seattle. Throughout Eclipse you are always left wondering what happened there and how it started. This book will be told strictly through Bree's perspective to give us some insight on Victoria and how her newborn army came to be. You can click here to read the article on Yahoo! Movies.

The book is being released on June 5th, but will be available to read online for FREE June 7th-July 5th @ http://www.breetanner.com/. That's something you don't see authors doing these days. Since I already own the entire Twilight Saga collection, I'll be purchasing it even thought it's available online. Has anyone bought the movie guides or official guides? I wanted to know if it was worth it or not.

Don't forget, Eclipse hits theaters June 30th!

Recent Obsessions

Lately, I've been finding things that I really like. Once I like them, I tend to stick with them for a while. It can be anything from a favorite movie or TV show to a new moisturizer or shampoo. So I thought I'd let you know what some of my recent obsessions have been. I do have a habit of over using things though and getting sick of them, but as for now I'm obsessed with these things! What are some of your obsessions right now? Let's keep it clean folks...enjoy!

The Pacific - This new mini series from Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks has me tuning in to HBO every Sunday night. I love all things WWII and this does not disappoint. If you are behind, you can catch up this Wednesday @ 8 pm. They are replaying the first 3 episodes that have aired so far, plus I believe you can always get them On Demand if you have that capability.

Spartacus: Blood and Sand - This show is absolutely crazy! The pilot episode was not very good, but I stuck with it and I'm glad I did. Just a warning, this show is violent, bloody and can contend with soft core porn. I have not had problems convincing Tim to watch it with me. We even got his bosses hooked on it a few months ago. When they visited this weekend we all watched it together along with our neighbors. This show is available on Starz and plays Friday and Sunday nights at 10. It is also available On Demand as well.

New Moon - I have been watching my New Moon DVD religiously. If you read my previous post about my pre-order, you'll know that I got the Target 3 disc special edition which is amazing! It has the most bonus features of any of the special editions and it came with a film screen from one of the scenes from the movie (which I don't really care about). Walmart came out with the Ultimate Fan Edition that contains 2 minutes from Eclipse which I found on You Tube and watched it there.

Lubriderm Advanced Therapy Lotion - I decided this winter that I wanted to try a new lotion. I had been previously using Nivea Smooth Sensations and I didn't like that it took really long to absorb, tended to be greasy and sometimes after mixing with my skin didn't smell all that good. Then Shape magazine recommended Lubriderm Advanced Therapy and I've been in love ever since. With my skin type I usually only use lotion in the winter and when I'm sunburned. I don't need to use it every day, but this stuff makes me want to use it daily. My skin has never felt better and the lotion absorbed super fast.

Caress Evenly Gorgeous Body Wash - Normally I'm not one for soaps that smell like food; I like clean, fresh scents. Another recommendation from Shape magazine was this body wash. I was really board with the current brand I was using and thought "oh what the hell". I ended up really liking it! It's cookie scent isn't too strong and it has karite butter and brown sugar to exfoliate the skin. I'll definitely be sticking to this one for a while.

Yoplait Delights - I had always wanted to try these low calorie yogurts and just never did. Then my neighbor bought them and didn't like them so she gave them to me and I have been in love since! I had been eating Activia for the longest time and I just got so sick of them. Plus I get weird with chunks of fruit in yogurt. So far I've tried all of them except the lemon (it doesn't interest me at all). I now constantly have them in my fridge and I don't feel bad eating them since they are only 100 calories. They have become my perfect morning snack.

Reebok Run Tone Sneaker - I really wanted to try out the new sneaker fad that claimed sneakers could help tone your legs and butt. I thought the Skechers version was hideous so I ended up getting the Reebok Run Tone's which is a step up from their Easy Tone line. The Easy Tone's are strictly for walking only, the Run Tone's are better for running (duh) and wearing them to work out in. They are the most comfortable sneaker I have ever had. I wear them to the gym and to walk the dog. I don't recommend them for sports because they can be a little bulky. I absolutely love them and have already seen a slight difference in the tone of my legs, not so much my butt. The Run Tone's only come in the color I have shown or white with teal; I chose the black ones.

Lipton Green Tea - To help with my weight loss goal I stopped drinking coffee in the morning and switched to hot green tea. Coffee has been proven to increase stress levels and add to hunger pangs throughout the day. I have 1-2 cups every morning sweetened only with honey. The tea and honey helps to speed up your metabolism throughout the day.

QuiBids.com

Have you ever won or bid on anything from Ebay? Does it annoy you that it has become taken over by "stores" which is code word for a Chinese company that buys mass quantities of items cheap and then sells them for more than what they got them from? Yeah...me too. Ebay isn't what it used to be anymore. Every once in a while I'll find a true sell which is what I call a singular entity seller. One person, just trying to sell an item that was never worn or lightly used. They don't have 30 of the same purses and they don't have fine print in Chinese at the bottom of the auction. Sometimes those "stores" aren't even carrying the authentic items, they sell fake products and pawn them off as authentic.

Tim sent me a link to an article the other day about penny auctions. The article is about an Oklahoma based company called QuiBids that auctions off new brand name products for up to 95% off their retail price. They have MacBooks that go for $230 and have a retail price of $1500. Some other products they sell are HDTV's, gift cards to popular stores (Target, Walmart, Lowe's, etc.), iPods, iPhones, KitchenAid mixers, and so on. Here's the catch: each bid costs $.60. You have to buy the bids in bulk in order to start bidding. So let's say you buy 60 bids ($36) and you decide to bid on a laptop worth $1200. Let's say you used all your 60 bids to win the laptop that closed at $300. So even though you got the laptop for much less than it's worth, you have to also take into account the money you spent on the bids as well. If that is still worth it to you then by all means try this out. The biggest difference between this and Ebay is this: on Ebay if you bid and lose it doesn't cost you anything. If you're going to bid through QuiBids make sure you're going to stick it out for the long haul of that auction. They can last a long time. Once the auction gets under 20 seconds, every time there is a new bid the time jumps up again another 20 seconds. Watch a couple of the auctions and read the material on the website. Please visit QuiBids to learn more and to read the article click here. I'd love to know if anyone actually wins something and I'll let you know if we end up winning anything as well! Good luck!

CW Thursday Returns

Has anyone else been missing the CW's Thursday shows The Vampire Diaries & Supernatural? I have!! The shows have been on break since January of this year and are finally starting again tonight @8 pm. I'm very excited to see my shows back on again after such a long break! Now if they could get One Tree Hill and Gossip Girl back on the same night instead of splitting them, that would make my day.

Restaurant.com Coupon Code

I saw this during my morning website browsing and thought I would pass it on to you guys. Restaurant.com is giving 80% off their gift certificates today through March 31st. If you've never used Restaurant.com, here's how it works: you can purchase gift certificates to many local restaurants and bars for a fraction of the cost. For example their most popular gift certificates are for $25 that can be purchased for $10. With the 80% off online coupon code, COOK, you can get them for even less. As with all gift certificate purchases make sure you read the redemption rules. Some restaurants limit you to dining during the week and include a minimum purchase amount as well. It's also common for them to exclude alcohol, tax and tip. It's a great way to try out that new restaurant everyone has been raving about or to experience something new you normally wouldn't go to. Enjoy!

Upcoming Events

There hasn't been anything exciting going on around here so I haven't had all that much to post about. So I thought I'd let you know what is coming up on my calendar. Here in DC spring has definitely sprung! It was 80 degrees this past weekend and we enjoyed every minute of it. We went for a lot of walks with Dakota, took a stroll in Reston, got some ice cream, did a little spring cleaning and played volleyball in the back yard. The best part about the whole weekend was we turned off the heat and opened the windows (which are still open by the way); I love the fresh air! Since the weather has taken a turn for the better, we are planning a lot of things to do outside.
Two of Tim's bosses are coming to town this weekend from PA, so we thought instead of taking them to Reston like we always do we'd take them to Georgetown. Tim and I surprisingly haven't been there yet since we moved and are excited to see the waterfront area and the downtown shops.

The cherry blossoms are coming! It's hard to believe that just a little over a month ago the cherry trees were severely damaged from the ridiculous snow storms we got here in DC. I'm so excited to go see them again, we had a great time last year. The blooming period this year is March 28th-April 9th and the actual festival is from March 27th-April 11th with the peak bloom date being April 1st-4th. The best thing about this year already is that my Dad, step mom and sister are visiting that weekend for Easter. They're really excited that the timing worked out and they'll be here to see the festival.

vs.

Opening Day is approaching!! I'm very excited this year that the Nats are playing the Phils for their opening series. We'll be going to game 2 on Wednesday, April 7th @ 7:05. I can't wait to get some 5 Guys and Ben's Chili Bowl!! Go Phils!!

Hopefully at some point I'll get to go see Alice in Wonderland this weekend. I've been tossing around the idea of seeing it in IMAX 3D, but I'm scared it's going to give me a migraine! I know I'm pathetic. Did any of you guys see it in IMAX 3D? What did you think?

I don't know about you guys, but I wear flip flops from March to November. So it's time to get a pedicure and pick up a few pairs of some new flops. Usually mine look pretty worn out by the end of the season since I wear them so much. I'm due for at least 2 or 3 pairs. I get my (rubber) flip flops from a number of stores: Abercrombie & Fitch, Old Navy, DSW, & Havaianas usually. I like a variety of colors, and they have to hold together for a while. I've slowly been weeding out my Old Navy collection because they thong always breaks apart from the sole no matter what I do. Old Navy flops come in a variety of colors and are super cheap, but I usually go through 2 or 3 pairs throughout the summer. Surprisingly my A&F flops can withstand a lot and so do my Havaianas. If you don't mind paying $18-$24 for rubber flops I definitely recommend them both.

Current Playlist Volume 3

It's been a considerable amount time since my last Current Playlist so I'm going to do something a little different this time. I usually pick 10 songs that are my favorite and tell you about them which is then followed by my Artist Spotlight. The Artist Spotlight is an artist or band that is usually not very mainstream, but has somehow impressed me enough to download most of their songs off of iTunes. Since I'm a little behind, I've gathered a list of my favorite songs from the last few months (without description). Then I have 3 bands that I wanted to share with you, some you may know some you may not. Sharing music with people is one of my favorite things to do. Music is such a huge part of my life and I'm so grateful to be able to have the access we all have to it nowadays. I remember when CD's were $20 and portable CD players were big and skipped all the time. Before I go off on another tangent...I give you Volume 3. Enjoy!

The XX - Intro
The Submarines - Brightest Hour (Morgan Paige Remix)
Passion Pit - Moth's Wings
MGMT - Electric Feel
V Factory - Get Up
The Temper Trap - Fader
The Temper Trap - Love Lost
The Temper Trap - Sweet Disposition
A Fine Frenzy - Stood Up
Thom Yorke - Hearing Damage
Oceanship - Hotblack
Oceanship - Mistake
Shakira - Did It Again
Switchfoot - Your Love Is A Song
Alicia Keys - Unthinkable (I'm Ready)
Ke$ha - Blah Blah Blah
Florence + The Machine - Cosmic Love
Silversun Pickups - Substitution
The Cataracs feat. Dev - 2Nite
M'Black - Heartbreak
Taio Cruz feat. Ludacris - Break Your Heart
Trey Songz feat. Fabolous - Say Aah
Lady Antebellum - Need You Now
The Hours - Ali In the Jungle
**THROWBACK**
Massive Attack feat. Tracey Thorn - Protection
(I watched Hackers the other day, so good. Totally forgot about this song.)

Artist Spotlight:

Paper Route - I saw this band open for Paramore late last year and immediately fell in love with them. The have a few EP's with 3-5 songs on them, but they just released Absence (a full album) right before going on tour. I ended up buying the album at the concert and as soon as I got home I downloaded all their other songs. Their music includes a variety of instruments which they record separately and mix in randomly during their songs. So when you see them live you expect a symphony to be with them and all that's there is a guy running a mix deck. Loved the music and absolutely recommend them live.

Trent Dabbs - This artist has been randomly featured throughout this season of my fave show One Tree Hill. If you don't know by now, I get 60% of my music from this show and other shows like it. As soon as I heard his music, I fell in love with it. I immediately bought the entire album from iTunes and told the friends I thought would be interested about it. There isn't one song on this album I don't like.

30 Seconds to Mars - This band has become very mainstream over the last couple of years. However, the reason I'm highlighting them is because they are living proof that you can make it big no matter how you start. Even though Jared Leto is the lead singer I doubt that had much to do with their success. Just because he's an actor doesn't mean he can sing and produce popular albums. Jared used to leave any venue that had promotions like "Jared Leto w/ 30 Seconds to Mars". He was always about separating his fame and trying to make it like any other band would. This album truly shows the bands appreciation for their fans. Included in many songs are voices of fans they sought out to put on the record. For their upcoming tour, they have even added meet and greet packages as well. I will be seeing them live in about a month and I'm really excited for it. This album has really shown the band's maturity and the raw lyrics are what sets this album apart from the others. I fell in love with it immediately.

*All the music featured here is available to purchase at iTunes.*

Shamrock Shake Recipe

This post is totally not for me, but strictly for my readers. I hate most things made with mint and I especially think McDonald's Shamrock Shake is disgusting, but I have tons of friends who love it. Since St. Patty's Day is tomorrow I thought I would post 2 recipes for McDonald's Shamrock Shake. The first one is the healthy substitute that can also be made into an alcoholic beverage which is always a plus. The second recipe is McDonald's actual recipe for their shake. I hope everyone enjoys them! Have a great St. Patrick's Day!

New Moon DVD

I don't know about you guys, but I pre-ordered my copy of New Moon today so I don't have to go from store to store praying it's not sold out! Plus most of the pre-orders are on sale, especially if you're looking to get one of the special editions. A lot of stores have their own New Moon DVD special going on. Which one should you choose? What's different about them? Well I ended up buying Target's 3 disc special edition because it was only $19.99 to pre-order it. When it comes out on Saturday, it will be back to it's full price at $36.99. That's almost 50% off! Plus shipping is only $2.99. There are so many special editions coming out with medallions and posters, I don't need that crap. All I care about is getting the most bonus features which seems to be what I'm getting. Below is the description of everything included in the DVD. To pre-order it from Target click here.

Oscar Beauty Secrets

Ever wonder how all of those celebrities look absolutely perfect at awards shows? You know in magazines and on film there are tricks to hide or enhance the body. But on live TV how do they do that? The Lemondrop blog I read had an article the other day sharing trade secrets of Hollywood's finest. I've listed below a few of my favorite items from the blog. To read the full article click here.

NARS Sheer Glow foundation - evens skin tones without looking like you're wearing caked on make-up to get your skin HD ready. This product retails for $42 and be found at NARS Cosmetics online.

Boob-Taming Tape - the best double sided adhesive on the market. In the past I've only used Victoria's Secret's brand that they sell in the stores, but it's $25 for a small package! Fashion-Fix is the industry's best and it's reasonably priced. A pack of 50 costs around $10 and can be found at Sally Beauty Supply stores and online.

Strobe Cream - how every actress attains that lustrous "glow" from the red carpet to the last after party. MAC's strobe cream wakes up tired looking skin and gives it a boost of energy loaded with vitamins and botanicals. Strategically placed on the body, it's light reflective to highlight certain areas. You can purchase it at any MAC counter or on their website. The cream retails for $29.50.

Eclipse Trailer!

I'm sure most of you have already seen it, but I have to post it anyway. First, a 10 second teaser was released followed by the much anticipated 1 minute and 33 seconds full trailer. I have to say I was really impressed (even though I felt the same with New Moon). I won't believe it until I see it on June 30th that hopefully the 3rd time is a charm and the newest director, David Slade, will get it right. Don't get me wrong, I like the films but I don't think any of the films do the books nearly any justice. My justification on this is simple...look at Harry Potter. Great books and great movies with big budgets and wonderful actors. I place all blame strictly on the screen writer who can't write worth a damn which for some reason Summit has decided to keep for all 3 movies. I also don't see any chemistry between Kristen Stewart and Rob Pattinson who can act in every other movie I see them in except for the Twilight movies. I just don't get it. But I'll stop there. I'm going to start this 3rd movie with a clean slate, but as always you know I love to hear what you guys think! Enjoy the official first trailer of Eclipse below and make sure you check back for more Eclipse news as it unfolds!

New Links!

I added a few more links to my blog that I think you guys will like as much as I do. One of the first websites I go to every morning while I'm having my breakfast is AOL.com. The homepage has the most up-to-date news on everything from celebs to top headlines to sports. They also have a huge list of their own blogs that I absolutely love. I added my favorites to the sites tab on the left hand side of the blog. Let me know if you like them! I hope everyone is having a great week.

ShelterPop - Your go-to site for everything home. Find out about the hottest and trendiest designs for your living room, what celebs buy to design their houses and how to do things yourself when it comes to your home. They also have some great tips on organization, color schemes and new products.

StyleList - Another one of my favorite fashion sites to go to. The neat thing about the site is that it gives great beauty tips and the articles are really entertaining to read. Some of the articles today have to do with office attire for the tall woman, how to do home highlights and how to tighten your face after losing weight. Of course it also ties in celebrity news and fashion as well which I'm always a fan of. This blog mixed all my favorite magazines into one. It's like reading Cosmo, Vanity Fair, People and Shape all at the same time.

LemonDrop - This is my women's lifestyle blog that reminds me that there are many women out there who are going through the same thing you are. It's all covered here: dating, love, sex, health and even etiquette. Do you want to know when in your relationship you'll be the happiest or why women chose weird baby names? This website answers those questions.

Paw Nation - Everything pets...enough said. Really good training and health articles for you and your pets. Plus they have super cute pictures! You guys know I'm an animal lover.

Book Reviews

I did get to read a couple of books the last couple months. I started reading while I was on my lunch break at work which really helped me fly through some of the books. Some were easy reads and some were hard, but I really enjoyed them all and now I want to share them with you!

It took me forever, but I finally finished The Time Traveler's Wife right before going home for Christmas. I loved it! Even though I enjoyed the movie, the book is just amazing. There was no way the movie could have captivated you like the book did. There were so many more details and side stories that movies never show. Plus it answered a lot of questions I had after seeing the movie.

I wanted to read this book the minute I saw the preview for the movie. I used to read every Nicholas Sparks book, but I got bored with them. Every story line was almost the same and they always had some character that had to overcome some great misfortune in their life. It got really old and depressing as well. After reading a few in a row, they all had sad endings and I just couldn't take it anymore. Anyway, even though this book was gut wrenching, it was just one of those great love stories that you couldn't put down. I read it in 2 days. I did see the movie after I had read the book. The movie was considerably different than the book, but I thoroughly enjoyed them both. Of course, I'll watch Channing Tatum in anything!

My girlfriend got me two books for my birthday one was Witch & Wizard and the other was the one I'm going to talk about next. I had never read a James Patterson book and I was looking forward to reading something new. It's a young adult book so it's an easy read and it has some corny lines to avoid cursing, but other than that the premise was really interesting. He left it completely open for a sequel. In fact I don't think he concluded one story line, it was left completely open. If you need a book that is an easy read and doesn't make you think too much, this is a good one for you. It's good to read in between two tougher books.

This was the other book my friend got me for my birthday. The book is fiction, but it's based on true events about the love affair between Frank Lloyd Wright and the woman he abandoned his family for. I have to say that I have a love-hate relationship with this book. After the first half of the book after you learn about the characters and the time period it gets really stagnant. I am a fast reader and I read a lot of books and this book took me a month to read. About three quarters of the way through it, I was about to put it down and never go back to it! I was telling a vendor of mine at work about it who had already read it and she told me to stick it out because the ending is really entertaining and totally worth it. Well she was completely right! I'm not going to give it away but the ending came out of left field. I was not expecting it and it left me with my mouth hanging open. I suggest reading this book with a couple other easy books. You need to take a break from it and let your mind reset. After you finish it though, there is a huge sense of bewilderment and accomplishment.

I'm currently reading A Lion Among Men which is the third book in the Wicked series. After reading Wicked and Son of a Witch this book is the easiest to read out of the three. Gregory Maguire makes up his own language in these books and sometimes it's really hard to comprehend what he's trying to say. These books are very provocative and can be graphic at times which really shocked me at first. After only ever knowing about the Wizard of Oz movie, these books leave you wondering about Gregory Maguire's imagination. I'm almost done with this book and I really like it. I recommend it to anyone who's read the other books in this series. I'm hoping it finally closes some open story lines.

If you have read any of these let me know if you enjoyed them as much as I did!

30 Seconds to Mars

Today I got a wonderful reminder from Ticketmaster that totally made my day. I have been waiting to see 30 Seconds to Mars for years now. Every time they come to town, I'm either busy or couldn't find tickets. Now that I have Ticketmaster reminding me when my fave groups and artists are coming to town, I get a little more warning. I am very excited to announce that 30 Seconds to Mars will be performing at Bender Arena at American University April 23rd. The following night they'll actually be heading up to Philly and playing the Electric Factory for those of you fans in PA. Tickets go on sale tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. You can visit Ticketmaster or click here for the direct link. Mutemath, Neon Trees & Street Drum Corps are opening for them. I'm super psyched to see Mutemath who I'm also a big fan of. Tickets are $25 and are all General Admission. If anyone else is planning on going let me know.

I didn't die!

Hey guys! I know I've been MIA for months now, but I'm ready to be back. Sorry for the ridiculous hiatus but life got really busy and something had to give. Between the holidays, work (and trying to find a new job), this crazy weather we've been having and just being plain busy I couldn't even think about the blog. I've had so much to say, but just no time to say it. So hopefully I'll be able to make some more time for this. I know how you guys enjoy it!

A couple of things that are new...our nephew finally arrived! Tyler Landen was born January 26th; he was 8 lbs. 1 oz. and 21 freaking inches long! Grace, Timmy, and Ty are doing very well. We plan to see them next weekend.

I finally have gone back to the gym and renewed my LA Fitness membership! Except for being deathly ill last week, I have been going regularly. My goal is to lose 5-10 lbs by May.

After a very long year, my best friend Erin is moving back from Cali. Even though I'm not in PA anymore, it was really tough to go home and not see her. Next weekend when Tim and I go to PA my 3 best girlfriends and I will all be together, we haven't all been together since Christmas.

Other than that, I'm looking forward to the weekend because it's supposed to be really nice here. I'll definitely be outside as much as I can soaking up that Vitamin D! I hope everyone has a good weekend. My next post will be something funny for everyone to start their weekend off with.
