The End of the Road...For Now

This has been a couple months in the making and I have been putting it off and putting it off. I apologize for being dormant pretty much for the majority of 2013. Let me explain.

For those of you who know me personally, you know I've had a pretty good/busy 2013 thus far. A lot of good things to celebrate. When I started this blog (don't worry, I'll circle back), I did it as a creative outlet. I didn't have a job in my field and I knew I needed to stay current in my preferred field while also keeping sane, which meant being creative about something. Almost 4 years later, I would have never thought I'd have learned as much as I did or met the most amazing people all because of blogging. Most of you bloggy friends don't know this part, FYI. When Tim and I moved back to PA in 2011, it was a very tough time for us. Our relationship was strained and on top of it, we had a very hard time finding jobs. Within a few months, Tim had found one, our relationship had grown stronger, but unfortunately I was still minus a job. To support myself I waitressed as I had done throughout college. I was miserable. I was interviewing like crazy with absolutely no luck. I was getting really discouraged. Our lives were on hold, literally. Without a job, we couldn't buy a house or get married. We needed to start our life, we had a plan. I just needed a job. I swore 2013 was going to be my year. So, I buckled down and spent all of my time looking for a job. And you know what, it finally paid off. Not only do I have a job, but I have a job in my career and I enjoy what I'm doing!

Blogging became work for me and I always told myself that if it stopped being fun, I'd stop doing it. And that's what pretty much happened. I ultimately didn't have the time or the money to take it to the next level. Now some of you are probably saying, "who cares? you blog to blog, it doesn't matter about stats or sponsors or followers." Well, first of all I'm a really competitive person and I also like gratification. If I'm not succeeding, I'm not happy. I didn't just want it to be about my writing. I wanted people to like my blog, like me and like what I had to say. I know most of you who read did, so I didn't fail there. But you get to a point where you go, it's not just about the writing. I want this to be great. And I knew if I didn't have the resources to do it i.e. the time or money (because if I did, this thing would be bangin' yo), I just had to take a step back.

I looked around and realized I was spending most if not all my free time on the computer writing, designing, tweeting, pinning, reading, entering freaking amazing contests, etc! I almost stopped actually living my life. And please, I hope I don't offend those of you who juggle work, home, life and blogging. I was just sick of describing my life to people, I wanted to live it! I didn't want to feel obligated to blog for 2 hours about my weekend in the city, because you know I would!

While I miss a lot of you dearly, and you know who you are. I know I won't lose touch, but I know when it's time to just take a step back and do what ya gotta do. I gave it 4 wonderful years. It's time I took some much needed me time.

So here's the plan. In about a week or two, this blog is going to become private. I'm not deleting it. I want the chance to be able to come back to it if I want. The blog FB page will be deactivated. My twitter will stay the same, I still use it quite frequently to holla about what's going on. And if you think I'm giving up my Pinterest page, you have lost your damn minds. So, tweet me, pin me, text me (if you got the digits). I'm still here, but I'm chillin'. I understand if you unfollow, I'd probably do the same. I'm actually really surprised after 3 months of nothing, I only lost 4 followers. Love you guys! LOL. Oh and I still have the same email for the blog, I'm not getting rid of it. If you need me, you can always email

Circling back to my awesome 2013...well those of you know that Tim and I got engaged in October. Like I said we were waiting for me to get a job in order to start our lives. Since the job, we have taken the necessary steps to purchase a home which we hope to have done by summer. Once we're settled, and I've redecorated the whole house thanks to Pinterest, I am then tasked planning of course! So, I kinda got a lot of things on my plate.

For my BBFF's, you know who you are, I will always love you. I'm so glad I got the chance to connect and meet you. For those who were just there to help out, give some advice or just listen, I'll miss you guys so much. The blogging community can be dramatic, but it also has a great sense of sisterhood. I was happy to be a part of. Take care everyone! I'll catch ya on the flip side (yep, that's a movie quote).

Love It...or Leave It

I've been going out on a limb and trying a few new products over the last couple months.
They were either recommendations from people (including many of you), presents or I saw an advertisement and thought, "oh what the hell".
Overall, I have to say I liked most of the products, only a couple really let me down.
Check out which products I loved and the ones I'm gonna leave behind.

Maybelline Colossal Volum' Express Cat Eyes
I already have a few of the Maybelline Volum' Express mascaras, but I have to say this one has quickly become my favorite. The key to this mascara is the brush. It is curved in such a way that it really gets all those pesky lashes in the corners so ALL of your lashes get volume and length!
Verdict: Love It

TIGI Rockaholic Dirty Secret Dry Shampoo
The reason I tried this product was because I hated my current dry shampoo which was by Tresemme. I walked into Ulta one day and saw this was on sale for $8 (originally $21). It was a no-brainer. This has a better scent and works so much better than the one I had. Now, will I pay full price for it? I'm not sure yet. Hopefully, I'll have this can for a while.
Verdict: Love It

Tresemme Heat Tamer Spray
I was told by more than one person that I needed a heat protectant spray. It was just something I never used. Since using this spray, I have noticed a difference and so has my hairdresser! It's so quick and simple, I can't imagine not using it. It just does wonders.
Verdict: Love It

Freeman Anti-Stress Dead Sea Minerals Facial Mask
I've heard good things about Freeman masks. My sister actually got 5 of them in a variety pack for Christmas. I use this once a week and it really rejuvenates my skin whether I'm breaking out or my skin is a little dry.
Verdict: Love It

Andrea Eye Q's Eye Make-Up Correctors
I received these as a Christmas gift this year. While they do work, I don't see any difference than dipping a Q-Tip in eye makeup remover. I probably won't pay extra to have this already done for me.
Verdict: Leave It

Sally Hansen Problem Cuticle Remover
I was told my one of my bloggie besties to get Sally Hansen's Instant Cuticle Remover, unfortunately when I went to Target, there was no more to be seen. So I picked this up instead. Although it works for the most part, I'm still holding out to find the instant one. Even after using this lotion as directed, I still have to go over my cuticles with a cuticle trimmer (which I hate to do because I always cut myself).
Verdict: Leave It

Vaseline Cocoa Radiant Vitalizing Body Gel Oil
I was really apprehensive about this product. I was scared it was going to make me break out and to be honest I wasn't really sure what to do with it. Was it in place of a moisturizer? Would it absorb quickly? When I first started to use it, I put it all over my body. That probably wasn't the best idea. It didn't absorb as quick and I felt like I was using tanning oil. I immediately did some research on the internet. I kept using the oil all over, but then immediately followed it with my regular moisturizer. That helped a great deal. Something about my moisturizer (which is Lubriderm Advanced Therapy Lotion) made the oil absorb better into my skin. Now we've had a super cold winter here in PA so far, I have really needed the extra moisture on my skin. I ended up using it consistently enough that I only use the oil on my problem areas: knees, elbows and hips. This product started out as a nightmare and ended up as a godsend. I highly recommend it.
Verdict: Love It

Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes
This was another item I got in my stocking for Christmas. I really didn't think I was going to like them because I already had my face washing routine down. I have to admit, this is the product for lazy nights. Some nights, I really don't feel like washing my face. I know it's bad to sleep in your makeup, but sometimes I just take off my eye makeup and hit the hay (don't judge). Now when I feel my laziness coming on, I just use these towelettes. It's not a deep clean, but it at least gets most of the product off your face, which is better than nothing. Not to sound cheesy or anything, but they really are calming too.
Verdict: Love It

So there you have it.
Do you have any of these products?
Do you love them or have you kicked them to the curb?
What are some products you've loved or hated?
I'd love to know!
Until next time (meaning tomorrow)...

Erin's Etsy Spotlight #9

A few weeks ago, I won a sweet giveaway from this girl, and it couldn't have come at a more perfect time.
Know what I hate to do?
Buy cards.
Birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, blah, blah, blah.
It's so tedious and to be honest, the gift is what everyone wants anyway.
Am I right?

The giveaway I won was to an Etsy shop called JulieAnnArt, owned by the lovely Julie Ann of course.
Her specialty?
I won 5 fabulous cards so this girl doesn't have to go to CVS or Target and stand in the aisle for 20 minutes to find "the perfect card". I already got 'em! And they were sent right to me!

I got 5 cards perfect for EVERY occasion.

Best friend's 30th birthday? Yep.

Friend's wedding? Done.

Valentine's Day? Check.

Little sister not so little anymore? Badabing.

And finally, it's always good to have a "just because" card for the fiance.

They're unique.
They're witty.
There's one for every occasion.
And they ship directly to my home.

Some of my other favorites include:

So true.
I don't have one, but I thought this was hysterical.
What I think about most of my friends. Why not tell them in a card?
Best Christmas card ever.
Who doesn't like chickens? Hehe.
Love these cards too?
I knew you would.
Make sure you follow Julie's shop on Twitter and Facebook.
And please, tell her I sent you.

Happy Friday!
